Pentax Compact Camera Post Processing Contest #8

Pentax Compact Camera Post Processing Contest #8
The Rules

1. Have Fun!

2. Use any Post Processing Software and techniques.

3. Entries will close on February 28th, 2013.

4. Maximum image dimensions for entries are 1024x768 pixels

5. Max of 3 image entries per person. Entries may be withdrawn or changed

6. List software used, as well as your method, with your entry so we can all learn.

7. There are no limits or restrictions - make the subject image into whatever you want!
But please do not copy or alter other entries....

8. Contest winner determines the rules, selects theme, sets closing date, and judge’s next competition

Bart's image from last month was a perfect choice and fun to work with.. I have a lot of p&s images in my archive that I like for various reasons, but struggled to find something I think is a good fit for this contest. Never did have an 'aha' moment but eventually had to decide on something so I hope you can do something with it..

Already downloaded and I'll see what I can come up with.

Since it's Saturday and lousy weather, I had some time available.
So I cooked up 3 interpretations.

I have no tools or skills to add things to an image so, I just worked on colour, texture and contrast.

All 3 went through Color Efex Pro 4.
1st one had added some warmth and an digital emulation of Velvia

For the next two I first went through Photoshop Express editor, applying an effect called 'sketch' and then back to Color Efex.

Hope you don't mind the treatment of your fine image, todd

I must say Color Efex has a lot of possibilities, even for more 'moderate' editing.

very nice work Bart! starting us off in style... I like Color Efex too and all the Nik tools for that matter. I used to use them a lot a few years back before I decided to stick with software that I don't have to pay for (primarily gim + g'mic, and then some rawtherapee, delab, luminance hdr)...

Thank you, todd.

I'll have to look into those programs as well.

I have one in the works... still working on the master at the moment, but I'll have something soon.

Cool stuff Bart! I can't really decide which I like best at the moment however.

Thank you, Mike!

Fine work from you.
The master has kept all the details.
Definitely like the monochrome.

Bart, you did a great job with the Color Efex! It's much fun to see what changes happen, and then quickly try another version.

The third and final pic (I promise!) is using an Effect from Jasc called rotating mirror. Reminded me of an Underwater Alien World, with a driver of some wierd beastie, under an Arch of a city or something.
