Having the same dilemma. Need somrthing I can use a beater when I goto the beach and go snorkelling. Anyone used the W20 underwater for an extensive amount of time?

I am somewhat tempted byt Oly but put off by his high price. Plus I prefer Pentax.

Any real world experience in regards to underwater stuff for an extensive period of time?
How "extensive" do you want? Mine has been underwater in two hemisphere's never counted hours. Probably have taken over 800 shots. Had it down to 4-5'. No problems but you have to have full sun overhead and clear water. Cloudiness will give washed out colors. Same with the sun low in the sky.

Anyone thinking of buying one of these to compliment their DSLR?

Pbase.com has some very interesting pics from the W10.

Only thing I question about these cameras is how good are they underwater and do the seals hold water tight? I would be using mine in the rain, snow etc.. if I bought it.
My W10 is a handy little camera when you want to travel light, go to the beach (sand/water) or during wet weather. I haven't had any problems with it; just make sure the battery compartment is in the "locked" position so that it is completely water sealed. It uses square LiOn batteries (a tradeoff for the small size) so I bought 2 extra batteries + small charger for about $25 from flea-Bay. I have also found that the $20 silicon "skin" allows a much better grip during wet conditions so I would recommend you get that accessory as well.

Even a point & shoot like the W10 can deliver decent images if you know what you are doing. This image of Toronto Canada was taken recently using the W10 in straight Program Mode. This is the unprocessed jpg straight out of the camera.
