nice stuff. I can't help but think that a hot shoe would make his work a lot easier. I don't think I'll ever buy a camera without one. This MX-1 would really be a winner with a larger sensor and hot shoe. Maybe an electronic viewfinder instead of the flash but I'm okay with using the screen if it has decent enough battery life.

That looked quite cool actually, I don't really like to use my portable flash on my dslr either. And if you are conserned about that, you can also use some sort of rig where to put your flash and your camera, and with doing so you can have even moreroom for flash to go up.. Right? Anyway, thanks for posting this.

I suppose there will be arguments about the absence of the hot shoe. Its really a personal choice if someone buys the camera or not.

Maybe Pentax will make a MX2 with a hot shoe, and with a larger sensor, let's hope Pentax can hear our pleas.

I find the video interesting, because when i found it last night it was the only time I heard or saw someone mention the wireless flash capabilities.

I have also read that the lens extends when you want to review the photos, I have found that is untrue, when my camera is turned off , I press on the review button and pics show up with out the lens extending.

I am interested to know if anyone can figure out the settings for the Pentax Flash AF 360 to work with the MX1.

Well it should be possible, because I could use even my youngnuo 460II as a slave trigger, which can be triggered by flash, like on cam. Flash.

So no problem at there. Only problem would be gettin exposure right, but with some training, you should get it done. It is just equipment after all.

Has any one figured out how to make the MX1 work with a Pentax wireless flash and if so which flash worked?
and if so what or how did you do it?

I look forward to hearing how this can work.

I haven't used external flash for years.
I have Pentax AF 200T and 280T, hopefully they both still work.

can I utilise them with MX-1 ?
what kind of remote optical slave flash trigger would you recommend?
or should I forget about them and get a new flash with everything build in?

Not sure I'm getting where you're coming from exactly, but you shouldn't need to use a remote trigger - just set your external flashgun to slave and use the MX1's built in to trigger it.

Works perfectly for me with a Yongnuo 568.

Getting the exposure right is tricky but the guy's tip in the video helps (setting your aperture to wide open in manual, auto-calculate the exposure with the green button, and then narrow the aperture to f8 while maintaining the shutter speed).

Sorry - whoops - minsinterpreted what the guy in the video said. That's how I've been doing it anyway at the moment because I'm a bit of a flash novice and a bit unfamiliar with not using TTL.

the old Pentax AF200T and 280T both do not have optical slave option.
I have tried Yongnuo YN460 in optical slave S1 & S2 and it did not work, the flash is too slow to react.
I have ordered Yongnuo YN560-III from China, it arrived today, initial tests look very promising........
