Pentax Compact Camera Post Processing Contest #13

The Rules

1. Have Fun!

2. Use any Post Processing Software and techniques.

3. Entries will close on July 28, 2013.

4. Maximum image dimensions for entries are 1024x768 pixels

5. Max of 3 image entries per person. Entries may be withdrawn or changed

6. List software used, as well as your method, with your entry so we can all learn.

7. There are no limits or restrictions - make the subject image into whatever you want!
But please do not copy or alter other entries....

8. Contest winner determines the rules, selects theme, sets closing date, and judge’s next competition

Hoping this Pentax Q shot gives folks options to go in different directions.

Original is available at MediaFire - Online Space for your documents, photos, videos, and music.

Going for a bit of a comic book feel but I lack the software or skills (or both) to add a clever speech bubble.

Did a few basic things to it for this one. In PS: crop, add "ghost", and applied infrared b/w filter

I flipped the 2nd pic, played with saturation, brightness, and contrast. And I added a gradient map.

3rd pic I flipped it and added a paint filter.

Nice entries, Joe and Sam.
Like the ghost! Harvey?

For this contest, I went with some DxO products.
I started off with a crop in DxO Viewpoint. Seems I ended up with something not unlike Joe's crop.

Then I opened the square crop in DxO FilmPack 4 where I used some pre-sets that I tweaked to get what I wanted.

"Found in the attic"

"Photo 60's" + border

"Ilford Pan F Plus 50" added an Orange filter and a hint of Selenium toning + border

Great image to work with, Larry!

A day at the Shark Monument

Used the channel mixer in pshop with the infrared setting to get b&w effect, then added the shark and fish

It just seemed to fit the frame with the 2 guys on the left, the womans pose, the photographer, the bay background, and the lack of anything better to do

- opened in gimp
- scissor selected each subject and then used scale tool to increase/decrease size and move tool to reposition
- clone tool from there to try and make it look the least obvious as possible (could have done much better on bricks if I went slower... don't look too close lol)
- cloned out the telephone pole to the right of the bridge
- cloned out the dude on the far left side for the heck of it (in hind sight maybe i should have made him a giant too lol)
- crop/resize
- used the 'velvetia' tone preset filter in the gmic plugin semi-selectively with the desire to boost color and give it a bit of a film look
- slight sharpen and export
