My 3 were taken with the Pentax Q. "Backseat Commuter" and "Work Place" with #01 8.5mm normal lens. "keyboard" with Toy Wideangle and softening. Ran out of time, so these were from the archives. But hey, I have been doing the same trip for over 15 years so how much different could it be. You wanted banality.
thanks
barondla

Good contest idea.
I really like the coke can, barondla! Great.

I posted a shot from my commute early in the thread. Here are two more. Both with the MX-1.

During our short summer tending to my few food producing plants, especially tomatoes, is an essential feature of my daily life.

A shot from work... the underground parking at the end of the week. Obviously everyone likes to get out early!

Joe, the underground parking is really special!

Decided to dust off my Pentax WG-1 GPS to take some pictures. The first is of my sunglasses. Every sunny day, which there has been quite a few of this year, these are over my eyes. The second picture is the view from the main road I take into town. The last one is of a pair of seals returning home (this was taken with a Casio Exilim)
Welcome!
That is some view! Beautiful scenery.
Also like the sunglasses.

Point and shoot competition #68 has come to an end. Happy August everyone!

There were some really good entries this month. Thanks for the insight into some of your lives. I skimmed through the entire thread a few times and went with the four that caught my eye the most for the four winners. They captured daily life very well and made it interesting.

Honorable mentions:
G.T.: note card with a pen
john5100: carnival ride
ivoire: Starbucks
Bart: window
rbefly: neighbor's flower
immunogirl: driveway
roxndox: bridge
barondla: Coke can
shiveringphotographr: snowy mountains

third (tie): jmschrei. Clouds

third (tie): Sue (kyteflyer). Railway entrance.

second: Jon Schick. Coffee cup

first: Nuff

All three of your pictures kept drawing me back. I had a hard time picking which of the three I liked better. I eventually settled with the empty sidewalk

Thank you Sam and everyone. That's my favourite photo as well, I like the empty space, how minimal it is, the lines and the shadow of a man in the distance, describes my walk to work perfectly. I'm especially happy with it since it was my first roll of film through the tiny Rollei 35SE and I didn't have battery for the lightmeter. Not to mention the shutter speeds below 1/60 don't work properly and it needs CLA. But I still like the Carl Zeiss lens on it and the focal length. It was great fun taking the photos and participating here.

Now, the next step is for me to think about the next theme.

Congrats to Nuff, the runners up, all who participated and thanks to Sam for an interesting 'slice of life' theme.

Once again, thanks everyone. I'm off for a quick getaway this weekend and I will announce the new theme on Monday.

Sue: I've just rediscovered film 5 months ago after 10 year hiatus. I really like what I'm seeing and I'm not sure why I've abandoned it in the first place. It's got a certain feel and colours that I couldn't get in digital. Also my hit rate of quality photos is much higher and there's less seating in front of PC.

I hear ya! I've been contemplating getting my old Minolta SRT out of mothballs. I loved working with that and the 50mm f/1.4... but... a need for developing gear is defeating me... theres not much in this town except supermarket developing and god help you if you want B&W

Well, developing gear for B&W is easy, a daylight tank, changing bag and few chemicals. You can get it all in sydney from Vanbar (I live right next to them, so it helps).
It's fairly easy and it costs me 15c per roll to develop.

I can imagine finding a lab in newcastle would be a bit harder. But google search turned up this place: Pro-Am Colour Laboratories Photo Printing Newcastle
But I'm not sure about their pricing. So get it out of the mothballs and give it a whirl. You might be surprised... I was.

Thanks for that link. Re DIY, I dont really have any capacity for doing it. My laundry was my first thought when I moved into the house in 2001, but there is absolutely NO ventilation... It would be easy to light-seal it, but you do need a way of letting the chemical fumes out. Besides all that, its been something like 35 years since I have developed and printed *anything* and that was with borrowed gear... I've actually forgotten how. I'd be having to start over. You speak of a "daylight tank"... does this get round the fumes-ridden laundry?
