Point & Shoot Competition #70: Dereliction

Hey everyone!

Welcome to the 9/2013 point and shoot contest. This month's theme is "dereliction" or according to the dictionary, "the state of having been abandoned and become dilapidated." The contest will close on 9/30/2013 11:59 PM US Eastern Standard Time.

Have fun and I look forward to seeing all your entries.

The Rules

1. Have fun!
2. Cameras:
No cameras with sensors larger than 1".
No large format or camera typically requiring a tripod to use.
No interchangeable lens cameras.
No 35mm(D)SLRs or any camera weighing over 1kg.

Cameras permitted ( cameras listed as acceptable here supersede rules above)
Fixed-lens 35mm and smaller-format film and digital rangefinder and viewfinder cameras.
Interchangeable or fixed-lens 110film SLRs and Pentax Q.
TLRs, 6x9, 6x7, 6x6, Medium Format "folding", "box", or "Holga-style" scale focus cameras ( subject to 1kg weight limitation).

3. Entries will close on Sept. 30, 2013 23:59 EST.
4. Maximum image dimensions are 1024x768 (ish) pixels.

5. List camera brand, model, with entry for all to see, and exposure data would be nice.
6. Post processing is fine, but no heavy processing (e.g. HDR, panorama).
7. Contest winner determines the rules, selects theme, sets closing date and judges the next competition.
8. HAVE FUN!

I think we've done this theme twice already since i've been here, once with "Abandonment" and once with "Decreptitude". But all three are slightly different and I like the theme anyway!

It remains an interesting theme, in my opinion... I'll try to catch up with fresh shots.

I was afraid it was going to be a repeat, but I didn't have time to look back at the old ones. The other one I had in mind was fruit and veggies, but the mood I was in yesterday pushed me towards seeing old, neglected objects.

I'm not complaining, mind...I love this theme and often shoot this kind of stuff anyway.

This was once a miner's cabin. Taken with my trusty old Canon A80, in the mining town of Maryville, Montana. One of many dwellings falling in on themselves in this once thriving boomtown, now home to a really good bar/BBQ place, a candy shop, and a few families...

OMG, where can you get real (as opposed to cartoon) Duff Beer? And I'd say this ought to count as alcohol abuse, myself...

Hello Jim,

I've heard that, originally, Matt Groening didn't want to see any Duff beer outside of the cartoon, and so it should have remained a kind of caricature for the Budweiser.
However, a German brewer got a license to manufacture this. In turn, the cartoons now have the "Duff" name blurred, in accordance with local law prohibiting the advertisements for alcohol, at least in France.
I hope I haven't made too much mistakes.

I have a bad memory... it seems things were a bit different:
Duff Beer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
but yes, there is Duff on the market, and Simpsons are blurred.

I stumbled upon this "lovely" subject recently and thought it might work for this months theme.
Panasonic FZ150 and slight edits in LR4.
