Point & Shoot Competition #74: Windows

The topic for this month will be "Windows"

We look into and out of windows all the time in our homes, on the streets. Windows both separate us from and join us to something else; they are everyday and can be magical. They are an interface between two or more states or places. They can be a way of seeing into another place or time, or seeing something in a new way. They can also just be beautiful all on their own.

The contest will be judged on composition, technique and imaginative interpretation of the theme.

The rules:

1. Have lots of fun!
2. Cameras:

No cameras with sensors larger than 1".
No large format or camera typically requiring a tripod to use.
No interchangeable lens cameras.
No 35mm (D)SLRs or any camera weighing over 1kg.

Cameras permitted (cameras listed as acceptable here supersede rules above):

Mobile phones, old and new, iPods, tablets, toy cameras.
Fixed-lens 35mm and smaller-format film and digital rangefinder and viewfinder cameras.
Interchangeable or fixed-lens 110film SLRs and Pentax Q.
TLRs, 6x9, 6x7, 6x6, Medium Format "folding", "box", or "Holga-style" scale focus cameras ( subject to 1kg weight limitation).
Any camera brand allowed.

3. Entries will close on January 31, 2014 23:59 EST (USA).
4. Maximum image dimensions are 1024x768 (ish) pixels.
5. List camera brand and model with entry for all to see, and exposure data would be nice.
6. Post-processing is limited to global processing. Exposure, contrast, saturation, sharpening/NR, rotating, cropping..etc. No adding/deleting elements from the shot in PP. Double exposures allowed only if shot in camera.
7. The photos in this contest must have been shot within the last 12 months.
8. Contest winner determines the rules, selects theme, sets closing date and judges the next competition.
9. Enter up to 3 images.
10. HAVE FUN!

I'll start the ball rolling, not an interesting shot and I never do the 'black frame' thing but I thought I'd give it a go.

All entries with Panasonic FX500.
Seems all ended up b&w

In a small town close to where I live

ISO100 11.3mm f/4.9 1/100sec

The company I work for, rents its office space in an old mansion.

The basement.

ISO100 4.4mm f/2.8 1/25sec

ISO400 4.4mm f/2.8 1/25sec

PS wonderful theme!
