This was a completely vain and unnecessary activity but...as many have noted, the lens camp that comes with the MX-1 is rather plain. I found an old metal Asahi cap that I had, and noticed that it fit perfectly on top of the existing MX1 cap, with just enough space to press the cap tabs. I had some thick two-sided tape, and voila.
Awesome - can you please provide some more photos of the sides of the lens cap, etc.?
I would love to do this with my MX-1.
Also what size is the lens cap?

Hi, it was an old 49 metal cap. It's a bit too thick in total, but I don't mind. It had to not extend over the edges of the real one, so as to not block the tabs.

Thanks for that!

I'm thinking a larger lens cap lined with relatively stiff foam to go over the whole lens hmm

I'm not 100% sure, but sounds like something similar!
I'll have to wait for my MX-1 to arrive first and measure the diameter of the lens first though.
Hopefully a metal lens cap would be deep enough to provide a secure fit too ...

I wish it would have been like the Pentax version of RX1

I've been thinking about getting one. Just a small camera when I don't want to haul an SLR. Something easier for my wife to use as she's clueless about the capabilities of our K-5. Been looking at other cameras though while researching.
its smaller than an SLR but not that small.

I bought one a few weeks ago and she loves it. It's perfect for a small camera, way smaller than the K-5 and IIs with the grip and lenses, etc. Gives her a green mode and I can shoot Av or whatever I feel like with it.

An image taken with my MX-1 while out and about it is very easy to carry in your pocket. The image was converted to B&W in the camera.

I have now joined the ranks of MX-1 owners, having acquired one late last week.

Here's some shots from my 1st outing:
