Pentax MX-1

I've had the MX-1 for about 2 months now. I absolutely love this camera. First compact camera that I've owned where I am not thinking "hm, there is this other little camera out there.. maybe I'll swap the one I have for this other one." I did that with the Panasonic LX5 and Canon S100. Not going to happen with this camera. Menu is simplistic. RAW files are nice to work with in Lightroom.

Owning this camera really does make me think about shooting with a Pentax DSLR, but I love my Nikon AI & AIS lenses. Perhaps in the future if I can balance two DSLR systems. For now I'm very satisfied with the MX-1 being my first Pentax camera.

Here are some photos that I've taken with the MX-1. I noticed all of them were shot indoors. Maybe the next batch will have some outdoors stuff. Enjoy!

Nice set of photos. Shows the versatility of that f1.8 lens nicely.
I really like mine (silver) too and I like the tilting screen way more than I thought I would.

Thanks! I almost picked silver, but the black was $50 cheaper at the time of ordering. The tilting screen comes in handy a lot more than expected.

Nice ones, Justin. You've demonstrated how well MX-1 does macros too.

These examples of what the MX-1 can do are really pushing me to the edge of clicking the buy now button...

Do it. At the current price, the MX-1 is a tremendous bargain.

It really is a surprisingly capable little camera, and feels great to hold in my opinion.

Where do you get such low prices?
Is that Ricoh Imaging USA offer with its distributors? Because in Australia the MX-1 is still around $450 everywhere, and the prices seem will not drop down anytime soon.

I got mine on Amazon. It was a third party seller, but shipping fulfilled by Amazon.

Love the MX-1, my D300 hasn't seen light in ages.

I would be tempted to sell my Nikon gear and get a K-3.

wow

Skism, those shots are gorgeous!

Umm, Monster Bento, you're no slouch, either, sir!

I just received my MX-1 last week (Thanks, Adorama!), and have only played around a bit indoors, but this is definitely a solid keeper.

Haven't had the chance to be outdoors with the camera. Been sick the past few days.

I did take a few pictures of the family cat over the weekend. Doesn't mind cameras, so he's always a fun subject.

Never seen him tilt his head this much, so I had to hurry the shot. Wish the ear was completely in... next time.

I think the cat tests should be mandatory with ANY camera...
Get well soon!

I pretty much do the same! Sometimes its one of the family dogs.

Here's a quick shot of our cat Ray-Ray shortly after unboxing my Pentax Q last year.
