Remember all seals eventually harden/perish. A waterproof watch might be exactly that the day you take it out of the box but five years later ...

I can see that after many years, but the WG2 is only a couple years old and should not fail this soon. From the second I got it I never trusted the battery door and I now I see exactly why.

Too bad I'm not qualified to participate ... I got a WG3 a while a go. Bought it as a demo item from BIC Camera in Tokyo at a ridiculous price (thanks to the weak Yen for the equivalent of less than150 USD!!).

It's fun, even under water! And should the seal fail some day I don't thinlk I am going to complain much ...

The problem with using waterproof cameras for diving is that one little grain of sand in the rubber seals, breaks the seal. One little bit of damages breaks the seal. This has been an issue with every "Waterproof" camera I've owned.
