i may not resist the MX-1 any longer... impressive pool

I've resisted this camera since it came out simply because it is ultimately redundant to me in my camera line-up (K3, GR and MX and K1000) .... I certainly do not NEED this, did not need this, will not need this. But the price keeps going lower and every time I visit this Flickr image pool group from the camera I am continually impressed with what it delivers. https://www.flickr.com/groups/pentax_mx-1/

I may just have to snap it up so it can sit alongside it's film brethren in my home.

It is a fun camera...the articulating screen opens up a ton of creative possibilites.
I think you will be surprised how little desire you have to lug around a DSLR + Lenses after carrying around the MX-1 for a few days.

I like you, didn't really need it. I carried a Nikon P7000 when I felt like traveling light. But, my Pentax brand affiliation, the MX's looks, it's great reviews and results were all too great for me to resist when the price dropped to $199. Glad I made the jump and no regrets. GO FOR IT !!!!!

HA! I am contributing a lot to that group this month. The MX-1 is my "lens" of choice for the Single In April challenge via this forum. I still have a lot to learn and I haven't mastered it, but man, it is sweet! Go for it! It is SO CHEAP for what it can do for you.

Here's my MX-1 set.

Bought mine on a special from woot.com (no longer available)

I see the Adorama website is selling the silver version for $249 + 2% reward on your credit card.

Still over the £200 Mark here in the UK. Was there not a similar version on sale as a olympus ?

Yes, the XZ-1. The lens module and sensor are exactly the same. It's about £40 cheaper because there's already an XZ-2, though I don't know what the differences are (I think they're minor).

I think you mean the XZ-2 is [supposedly] the same lens and innards as the MX-1. The XZ-1 was released in 2011, has no tilting screen and is a 10Mp shooter.

The lens design does look exactly the same. I'm surprised by that - I wonder if it's a Zuiko design or if a third party did the lens for both.
The lens coating does seem quite different, between SMC and the Zuiko.

And I agree that it's a hard to resist camera.... I'm hoping they'll do a MX-1MkII or MX-2.

Well in the past few weeks I've sold my mother on it, as well as a close friend next door, so I've gotten to play around with it a good deal.
Now it's sounds like one might enter the household because my lady is heavily considering it now as well!
