The weather has finally turned for the better here in the Northeastern USA and I'm finally able to get relax time out on the deck (rather than shoveling snow off the driveway).

We were kicking back on the deck yesterday when I spotted this guy building a web. Decided to use the opportunity to test out the MX-1 macro features. This was shot RAW and then cropped and processed in Lightroom.

Impressively sharp, Dave. Thanks! Looks like your MX-1 is a keeper and works well, even though you got it used. I too have been happy with my MX-1's performance -- if conditions are right (especially outdoor shooting), my images rival those that I capture with my much bigger/heavier K-50...

It's the terrific lens that does it.
I really should shoot more macros.. It's an excellent tool.

Thanks guys! I've really been enjoying the MX-1, a lot more than I thought I would. Great image quality and very compact.

I really hope Pentax continues the line with an MX-2, MX-3, etc.

I would love to see them add a hot shoe.

Would you really use a flash unit on this camera?
It has such good low light performance it hardly needs it.

Certainly not the 540fgz!!

I was thinking the macro lights at the end of the flexi-arms that plug into the flash shoe. Or even some of the compact flashes or even a flash trigger.

I think these would offer a lot of interesting options.

I would like a hot shoe just to operate a trigger for remote light , I think on camera flash would be unnecessary .

They're neat.. But would they still be powered from a Pentax hotshoe?

I use this setup for the MX-1

Those macro arms get their power from the pen port , doubt you could mod to pentax, what if you could tap into the pop up flash power line to trigger things?

I'm sorry, Steve. I don't know why I posted to the Olympus ones...I'm sure its because I have those for my OMD E-M5.

Here is a generic Promaster set that has its own batteries...should work with anything.
