Point & Shoot Competition #78.

Love the diversity of pictures since the first contest. I am interested in seeing your favorite, current images. So there is no theme to this contest! Shoot and enter what you want. This makes it harder to judge, but I have survived it before. Some think it is harder to shoot without themes. I don't get that. SHOOT WHAT YOU WANT. Enjoy the freedom of pure point & shoot!

RULES (as per usual):

1. Have lots of fun!
2. Cameras:

No cameras with sensors larger than 1".
No large format or camera typically requiring a tripod to use.
No interchangeable lens cameras.
No 35mm (D)SLRs or any camera weighing over 1kg.

Cameras permitted (cameras listed as acceptable here supersede rules above):

Mobile phones, old and new, iPods, tablets, toy cameras.
Fixed-lens 35mm and smaller-format film and digital rangefinder and viewfinder cameras.
Interchangeable or fixed-lens 110film SLRs and Pentax Q.
TLRs, 6x9, 6x7, 6x6, Medium Format "folding", "box", or "Holga-style" scale focus cameras ( subject to 1kg weight limitation).

ANY CAMERA BRAND ALLOWED.

3. Entries will close on Saturday, May 31st, 2014 Midnight (cst).
4. Maximum image dimensions are 1024x768 (ish) pixels.
5. List camera brand and model with entry for all to see, and exposure data would be nice.

6. The photos in this contest must have been shot within the last year.
7. Contest winner determines the rules, selects theme, sets closing date and judges the next competition.

8. Enter up to three images, however you may change your entries as many times as you like up to the contest closing date/time.
9. Feel free to post a shot ( not judged) which shows off your setup.

Get those cameras fired up. Start shooting!
thanks
barondla

I am pretty certain this has been covered in the rules of previous contests, but just for clarification here do these rules include or exclude the Ricoh GR and it's sensor?

GR sensor is "larger" than 1 inch so not allowed (according to rule 2)

No theme is a good theme barondla plus it seems to bring in more variety/competition. I enjoy seeing all the various uses for PnS cameras.

My first with the Panasonic DMC ZS6

second with Panasonic LX7

and #3 with Pentax Q

"Fixed-lens 35mm and smaller-format film and digital rangefinder and viewfinder cameras."

FWIW, As stated this superceeds rule 2 and would allow GR and X100, etc. That is how it is written.

GR is not 35mm, smaller format film, or digital rangefinder, or viewfinder camera. However:

It does appear to let in the Sony R1, X100 or any 35mm or smaller format fixed lens camera with a viewfinder. I guess if you put a viewfinder on the GR or DP Merrills , etc they would qualify (but i believe the intent is not to allow these).

We'll have to wait for barondla to chime in for a decision/interpretation as "Contest winner determines the rules"

Good start ivoire. Glad you and Bart like the freedom. Can't wait to see what Bart and others enter.

That darn Ricoh with the big sensor is wrecking our rules. ivoire used all most the exact reasoning I did ( no rangefinder, no viewfinder). Problem is if you take Ricoh out of point & shoot/ street shooting what is left? It also doesn't help that the GR forum is like a subforum of this one. Arghh.

I have decided to allow The Ricoh GR and Sigma DP in this contest. May try to rewrite the rules, after more time to study the problem. I am interested in seeing more pictures versus debating camera design.
thanks
barondla

I salute your liberal use of rule #7. Perhaps you should post a invitation in the GR and Foveon threads??

Hey! I just figured out the perfect GR compromise!

How about this:
Ricoh GR series cameras are allowed (older ones of course) but submissions taken with the new GR (APS-C) MUST have been taken using the 35mm or 47mm crop mode. This immediately reduces the res down to around 11mb or 6mb respectively.

What do you think?

Interesting idea. I will have to think on it. What is the newest GR without crop- 28mm eq?

Difficult to decide, so I'm entering three... One in the details, one in the wide, and one in the street.

"Just Second Hand News" Ricoh GR

"The Mount" Ricoh GR

"Jimmy the Harp" Ricoh GR
