@CR...Since the DP#M's were allowed in the last comp I thought I'd drop one in. It's up to GateCityRadio (rule #7) as to its allowance. Keep in mind that he won the last competition using the MX-1. It's not necessarily the tech of the camera that counts in producing great images.
Oh I agree that the DPMs, the RX1s and the GRs, as well as the X100 and similar cameras must be allowed. It's part of the rules, and it's part of what "Compact" means now. It used to mean cheap, portable point and shoots. Now that market's gone, thanks to cell phones. Now compacts can be as good as DSLRs, so it makes sense to allow for all of them.

And I agree that a good camera doesn't mean good pictures, a cell phone picture could win a contest like this one, and it would probably be gratifying to see that happen

Challenge ACCEPTED! (Come on Mr. Bassie, let's rock this joint) Seriously though, I'm putting the GR down. Here's a snap of mine from back in Wellington a while ago now, taken with a Blackberry 8900.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh crap.

6. The photos in this contest must have been shot within the last year.
I'll resubmit as soon as I find or take one that adheres to ALL the rules, not just most.
It's rough simply because I sold my GRDIII awhile back (which was in complete "compliance") and don't have any recent enough images from it, and my phone pics are very few and far between.

Ok, official entry here since the one above is too old. This one should qualify. Snapped with a Blackberry Z10... PP applied in LR - white border, black point and desaturation.

The first line of the rules say no sensors larger than 1", which would disqualify the sigmas et al. But it is up to the OP to allow them or not.

Read the rest of the rules. It specifically says that the exceptions overwrite the rule that you just mentioned.

I think cell phones are fair game, also see no problem with the Q, GR or sigma DP, they are compacts and not D/SLRs.

I pretty much just copied the rules from the previous contest to keep things consistent. If a camera was acceptable in past contests it should be fine here.
