Proud owner of X5 and question about filters?

Hi I have just bought a new X5 and so far am extremely pleased with it. I'd like to get some filtes (usual, uv ND etc). Have come across these Amazon
Polaroid Optics 4 Piece Filter Set (UV, CPL, FLD, WARMING) For The Pentax X-5, K-01, K-30, K-X, K-7, K-5, K-5 II, K-R, 645D, K20D, K200D, K2000, K10D, K2000, K1000, K100D Super, K110D, *ist D, *ist DL, *ist DS, *ist DS2 Digital SLR Cameras Which Has Any Of These (55-300mm, 75-300mm, 18-50mm, 28-80mm, 31mm) Pentax Lenses

But several users seem to believe that you cannot mount any filter, or lenshood on the X5. Someone has to be wrong!

Here is a review of that camera and the first user states you can't attach filters to it.

Pentax X-5 - Pentax Compact Digital Cameras - Pentax Camera Reviews and Specifications

I would think this is correct as the lens retracts inside the body, the filter would or could damage the camera if the filters stops the motion of the retraction.

And welcome aboard!

The X-5 doesn't accept filters. They're mainly meant for interchangeable-lens cameras like the K and Q series.

You could probably rig a clamp with filter threads to attach onto the lens.
Just two things: a) those filters are probably low quality and b) except for the CPL, they are useless on digital.
