Since the MX-1 lacks a threaded lens barrel, you cannot attach any filters to it. There is only one filter that can be used and its available, which is a circular polarizer that attaches magnetically to a supplied metal ring the you permanently stick to the lens barrel edge, but the filter has to be removed in order to turn off the camera allowing lens to fully contract. If interested, look for the MAG FILTER 42mm at B&H or elsewhere. This is the size that fits the MX-1.

If you are looking for lens protection, you will have to settle like the rest of us with this nice beasty... by being more careful. Optically, any filter (even best quality ones) will always have a negative impact in image quality.

But there is one real accessory I would like to find, which is a matching lens angles (tulip type) lens hood. That will be a magnificent image quality improve. I guess its time to pull out the tools and stuff.... one custom shade is on the go!

You are right. I forgot about this interesting gadget. Personally never seen one or played with. Forgetting the loss of compact-ability of the camera ( no size reduction when turning off), I would pay special attention to two other issues with this gadget. The method of attachment to camera body ( possible wear and tear around the outer lens barrel where it attached to body, and possible vignetting at the widest setting.

But yes, this thingie will allow the use of any 58mm threaded filter.
