This was a really tough contest to judge. So many great entries. Had to judge it at work because the high speed internet allowed me to flip thru the pictures and compare them back and forth. Thankfully the boss was understanding!
The winners are:
3rd place- Mike Cash: shot of observation tower. Love the "sepia" tinged color at the top of the image. Used a real P&S to boot, and film at that. Good job. Not sure any one else has ever entered 3 shots taken with 3 different cameras in the same contest. Shows great versatility and command of photography.
2nd place- xs400: shot of cave reflection. Incredible low light shot. The colors are beautiful. Very tough shot to take with any camera. You did it with a P&S. Wow. Your image makes me wish to see the place in person some day. Can't imagine how you pulled this off in such low light. Exraordinary colors.
1st place- LaRee: Yellow Hooded Oriole. Amazing detail and great composition. No distracting clutter. Perfect exposure of a very hard to capture subject. Have never seen that bird before. This shot floors me. Have tried a bird shots with much more equipment and have never approached the quality of your shots. Well done.
Honorable mentions:
Skid 2964: Softball at night. Very moody B&W. Very graphic composition looking thru the backstop with the lights in the background. This image has impact.
Offertonhatter: Gdansk town hall silhouette. Love the twilight colors and strong, simple composition. Reduces the subject to its most basic characteristics. Stunning shot.
Could have singled out even more shots. Didn't know you could hot air ballon indoors (thanks Damn Brit)! WJW shot of "moving kung fu man" demonstrates interesting use of motion.
Congratulations everyone. Thanks for entering.
LaRee your up to start the contest #8.
thanks
