Point and Shoot Competition #85 - Festive Abstract

Coming up with a new theme was harder than I thought!

But after some consideration I decided it had to be 'Abstract', since I absolutely love abstract photography.

Abstract might be hard to define so I am looking forward to seeing your interpretations of it. Also, I am aware that this theme has been used before for this competition, so bonus points for those who manage to combine 'Christmas' and 'Abstract' in one photo since it is the holiday season! Happy Holidays!

Good luck, and have fun

Cheers,
Regine

THE RULES (as per usual):
copied this from Bill

1. Have lots of fun!
2. Cameras:

No cameras with sensors larger than 1".
No large format or camera typically requiring a tripod to use.
No interchangeable lens cameras.
No 35mm (D)SLRs or any camera weighing over 1kg.

Cameras permitted (cameras listed as acceptable here supersede rules above):

Mobile phones, old and new, iPods, tablets, toy cameras.
Fixed-lens 35mm and smaller-format film and digital rangefinder and viewfinder style cameras.
Interchangeable or fixed-lens 110film SLRs and Pentax Q.
TLRs, 6x9, 6x7, 6x6, Medium Format "folding", "box", or "Holga-style" scale focus cameras ( subject to 1kg weight limitation).

ANY CAMERA BRAND ALLOWED.

3. Entries will close on December 31th, Wednesday at Midnight CST (USA). (Happy New Year!)
4. Maximum image dimensions are 1024x768 (ish) pixels.
5. List camera brand and model with entry for all to see, and exposure data would be nice.
6. No restrictions on when the entries were taken.
7. Contest winner determines the rules, selects theme, sets closing date and judges the next competition.
8. Enter up to three images, however you may change your entries as many times as you like up to the contest closing date/time.

I already see a lot to like here!

The images I used are not exactly recent but they are all from Christmas or Christmas Eve.
I did the processing just now. So, at least that is fresh

Since the theme is Festive and Abstract, I pushed the processing "somewhat" further than I normally would.

All images with Panasonic FX500 and processed in Color Efex, Analog Efex and FimPack.

Panasonic DMC-FX500, f/2.8 @ 4.4 mm, 1/30, ISO 125, No Flash & Color Efex

Panasonic DMC-FX500, f/2.8 @ 4.4 mm, 1/60, ISO 100, No Flash & Analog Efex

Panasonic DMC-FX500, f/2.8 @ 4.4 mm, 1/30, ISO 160, No Flash & Filmpack5

If this would look as if I'm collecting software, I'm not
The two from Nik, I got free when Google acquired them. It won't come as a surprise I did have Silver Efex I think.
FilmPack, I bought as well. Especially for the film emulations and especially for the b&w ones

For these entries, I thought about b&w as well but the 'Festive' aspect made me decide to go for colour on all three.

Abstract Light sparkles

I see some very fine entries in this challenge! I finally got a chance to try for some abstracty shots after Christmas.
This one is with the Panasonic FZ150 and using a Tiffen 4 point star filter.

Another one with sparkles

The next one is with a Pentax Q7 (thanks Santa!) and the kit lens.
Again with the Tiffen 4 point start filter.
p.s. I can't figure out how to use manage attachments and get text to show up between the photos.

I loved seeing everyone's interpretation of the theme, i hope it wasn't too challenging!

I had a few favorites, but Bart's entry met the criteria the best In my opinion Abstract is a broad theme, and is also a matter of taste... this photo gave me that nice warm feeling that goes with the christmas celebrations

So, congratulations Bart, I am looking forward to the next challenge!!
