This is the primary reason I steer well clear of Pentax compacts, they are about 5 years behind in terms of speed of operation.

Not good enough.

I don't know how the W20 and W30 are in the speed department, but the W10 takes forever to focus and once the focus locked still hesitates making the photo as if it were saying: 'are you really sure you want to make the picture?'

I for one am very interested in the W60, but if it's as slow as the W10 (or even half as slow), then there is no way I will be buying it...

The Olympus Stylus 1030SW goes deeper underwater and adds shock proofing too. I think Pentax may have been a little late in rolling out this model. Still it looks like a nice camera, although the price tag for waterproofing might make this a niche product.

The Oly is about 1/3rd more expenssive, and, quite important to me settles with a better zoom (28-140 against 28-115) and has some handy extra's like interval shoot and timer modi..., so the Pentax does really have some interesting things to mention.

Yes, but it still is not as great in video mode and doesn't fit my shirt pocket as well.

Most people also consider the Pentax the better picture taker. Seem to have higher image quality than the Olympus underwater cameras.
