George, the shots in #221 and the first in #218 appear to have quite a strong cyan colour cast, but your other shots look natural ?

Sorry for the delay in answering. Some shots were through the windows of my Nissan Frontier. Plus on those heavy cloudy days the colors do look different. Probably a bit of both.

I hope my MX-1 never changes. It is an awesome camera on it's own and to me, the B&W renderings look like some of the classic B&W films of my younger years. It can also do cool things like in camera stitching. This is from a stop at Badlands National Park in South Dakota in 2017.

Decayed Leaf

:
Found this leaf skeleton when tidying the garden yesterday; it is about 6 inches long. Photographed on white paper under a glass sheet to make a Pentax MX-1 JPEG colour image. This was cropped, adjusted, and a vignette added, all done in PaintShop Pro.

Nice
I wonder what happens when you let it laying around.
Maybe a further decay. Maybe interesting photo series..

Thank you Christophe. If kept indoors, it would probably stay as it is now, but outdoors it would continue to disintegrate, as it has along the top edge.

From a three year old thread. This shot was of three Pentaxians all gathered in the same place at Yellowstone National Park. From left to right are wtlwdwgn, yours truly, my #2 son and Dwalt. Shot with my MX-1 by a very nice lady who just happened to be there. The cameras are a K3, a K1 and a K3.

Super!

I love a pentax meetup

Can I ask, the tripods with those special heads that allow you to tilt up and down better than a ball type, what are they called? Does that style of head have a particular name?

They are called gimbal heads. wtlwdwgn and I were using a nest gimbal head and Dwalt was using a Manfrotto gimbal head. They are pretty handy when shooting wildlife on the move with long lenses. You mount the camera and lens at the center of gravity so it does not tilt when you let it go. You can adjust the pressure for totally free movement or to actually hold the camera in place. Great for shooting the heavens above. The Nest heads are carbon fiber and the Manfortto is metal.

My tripod is a Vanguard Auctus Plus 323CT. It is a carbon fiber tripod. I got it from B&H Photo when they were on sale at 50% off to clear them out. A real beast and very sturdy. I see you can still get one on Amazon for $499 USD. It can support 18kg. Not sure what tripods the other guys were using.
