Point And Shoot Competition #91 - Glorious colours

Well, Summer is all but here.
Or at least, it should be just about now

So, I picked this theme to let you showcase all the warm colours of summer or any other period for that matter.
Anything with warm, rich colours will do. Nature or man made, your pick.

Something like this

or

RULES (as per usual):

1. Have lots of fun!
2. Cameras:

No cameras with sensors larger than 1".
No large format or camera typically requiring a tripod to use.
No interchangeable lens cameras.
No 35mm (D)SLRs or any camera weighing over 1kg.

Cameras permitted (cameras listed as acceptable here supersede rules above):

Mobile phones, old and new, iPods, tablets, toy cameras.
Fixed-lens 35mm and smaller-format film and digital rangefinder and viewfinder style cameras.
Interchangeable or fixed-lens 110film SLRs and Pentax Q.
TLRs, 6x9, 6x7, 6x6, Medium Format "folding", "box", or "Holga-style" scale focus cameras ( subject to 1kg weight limitation).

ANY CAMERA BRAND ALLOWED.

3. Entries will close on Tuesday June 30th 2015 at Midnight (gmt).
4. Maximum image dimensions are 1024x768 (ish) pixels.
5. List camera brand and model with entry for all to see, and exposure data would be nice.

6. No restrictions on when the entries were taken.
7. Contest winner determines the rules, selects theme, sets closing date and judges the next competition.

8. Enter up to three images, however you may change your entries as many times as you like up to the contest closing date/time.

9. Feel free to post a shot ( not judged) which shows off your setup.

I'm looking forward to all your entries! Let's make this a really warm and bright thread.
And do have fun!

Bart

Here's a couple taken with the Canon S100 at 3x zoom likely. This is before I had a DSLR. We found the little Ruby throated Hummingbird on a dirt road. It couldn't fly and could barely stand. We hand fed it for a couple weeks until it was strong enough to fly. What an amazing experience.

Captured with Nikon Coolpix L30 (because I like to supplement my Pentax DSLR with a relatively inexpensive camera which will fit in a pocket).
f/3.2.
The top image is titled "Who's That Guy?"

We're already off to a great start

A lovely bird and a touching story, wissink!

Those easily qualify as bright and warm colours, Stuart!

Pentax Q w 01 8.5mm normal lens. An homage to famous, deceased photographer Galen Rowell and his image of a rainbow kissing the palace in Tibet. I had to run about 1/8 mile to align the rainbow and structure. Glad the Q is light weight.
thanks

Really great, barondla!
The rainbow seems to be projected out of the silo.

I'm enjoying this thread. As someone who's had a DSLR for only a year, I remember the insatiable curiosity regarding the possible correlation between better gear and better photos. My current curiosity is whether a deep travel budget is required for great images as well.

Being a visually impaired stay at home dad, it has been an interesting journey trying to find images on the same streets and in the same neighbourhoods day after day. It comes down to shapes, forms, texture, light, etc. But man the enthusiasm can ebb and flow.

Indeed.
I think that over the years, these threads have shown that the simple P&S cameras can be used to capture fine images. This is already #91.
The 'clichés' "the best camera is the one you have with you" and "it's the person, not the gear" seem to have a certain truth in them
Like most clichés, I guess.

Glad you're enjoying the thread. Don't hesitate to jump in by the way

I don't know if a really big travel budget is needed.
My wife and I used to take 1 holiday trip per year. 10 days and never further than a 1000 Km. Normally, I used to bring back about half of the images I take over the year from those trips. That means of course that half of the images I take over a year are from really close to where we live.

I don't really have a compact at the moment so I'm not participating the Sony DSC-P200 finally gave up the ghost, and my Optio RZ18 is in my mother in law's hands at the moment. She and her husband are making good use of it and taking great pictures, and are pretty impressed with it. So it's not all bad

I might try something with my cell phone... but the Nokia I had, which had a good camera, also died, and I have an Alcatel now. Actually a good phone, but it has a crappy camera.

But I really posted to say, excellent pictures everyone! Bart will have a very hard time judging this one!
