Point and Shoot Competition #92 - Transitions

This month's theme is Transitions. Transitions are all around us and part of life! Light to dark, seasons, a flower opening, butterfly emerging, fledging birds, a graduation or marriage, sea to land, bridge, fences--really everywhere and of daily life. The theme is meant to be creatively applied.

Entries will be judged on photographic merit and creative application of the theme.

RULES (as per usual):

1. Have lots of fun!
2. Cameras:

No cameras with sensors larger than 1".
No large format or camera typically requiring a tripod to use.
No interchangeable lens cameras.
No 35mm (D)SLRs or any camera weighing over 1kg.

Cameras permitted (cameras listed as acceptable here supersede rules above):

Mobile phones, old and new, iPods, tablets, toy cameras.
Fixed-lens 35mm and smaller-format film and digital rangefinder and viewfinder style cameras.
Interchangeable or fixed-lens 110film SLRs and Pentax Q.
TLRs, 6x9, 6x7, 6x6, Medium Format "folding", "box", or "Holga-style" scale focus cameras ( subject to 1kg weight limitation).

ANY CAMERA BRAND ALLOWED.

3. Entries will close on Monday, August 31th 2015 at Midnight (gmt).
4. Maximum image dimensions are 1024x768 (ish) pixels.
5. List camera brand and model with entry for all to see, and exposure data would be nice.

6. No restrictions on when the entries were taken.
7. Contest winner determines the rules, selects theme, sets closing date and judges the next competition.

8. Enter up to three images, however you may change your entries as many times as you like up to the contest closing date/time.

9. Feel free to post a shot ( not judged) which shows off your setup.

Have fun, as usual. I love this competition!
Enjoy,
David

I went looking into the "archive" with this theme in mind.
After I selected 3, I processed them with DxO FilmPack.
My common denominator would be transition of light - or lack thereof

All are taken with Panasonic FX500.

f/2.8 @ 4.4 mm, 1/320, ISO 100

f/5.5 @ 15.2 mm, 1/250, ISO 100

f/2.8 @ 4.4 mm, 1/8, ISO 400

On a side note, since this is the holiday period - at least over here, I wonder if it wouldn't be an idea to let this contest run over two months?

Nice photographs, and definitely on the theme--great start! I am fine with a two month summer contest. We will be going away at some point as well, maybe later in the month in fact.

Per Bart's suggestion I have changed the end date to August 31st for the competition, making this a great project for vacation photography.

Some other suggestions: Windows, doors, stairs as Bart showed, passageways, transport, construction, dawn, dusk, weather changes... Lots of things. Have fun!

I dislike this. Would prefer you force people to get out and use their noggin instead of looking through their thousands of archived photographs.

I will participate if I can find my sony DSC-H20

I prefer recent photos myself, but that has been in place for a while. I am following what was a trend in the competition. Having had some recent health issues, I also can understand how someone might have difficulty getting out. I managed to last month in the last days to take the photo I submitted as that was my preference.

Sometimes you have to use shots from the archives to participate. This is a world wide contest. If the theme is winter and it is summer in your area - what are you to do? Plus it allows us to see more great entries.
thanks

transitions - hmmm, have to work on that.

Looks like a really fun contest. I can't wait to shoot my entries

Any reason this one's going through both July and August?

It was suggested due to the summer holiday (in part of the world!). There were no entries three weeks into the month of July except for Bart, so it seemed like a good idea in case it had to do with people traveling. I look forward to your entries! And others, too! I want it to be fun...
