MX-1 aftermarket Lens Cover removal!

Hello All,

Just picked up a mint MX-1 - very clean and a good deal, but it has one of those aftermarket lens covers with three blades that opens with the lens. Frankly I'm not keen on the look and want to remove it.

If any of you happen to have added one of these - how does it attach? Any advice would be appreciated!

Cheers!

I have one and it just is a pressure fit on so...I'd suggest gently twisting and pulling it off. I note that I have not tried to remove mine (which I love actually). YMMV

I wouldn't attach one of those too.

I use the simple manual one which came with the camera. But it is not attached to the camera by string, this is clumsy and obstructing. I got used to remove it and just place it in my pocket. After a week, you do this automatically and will not even think about it.

I'm thinking of using an old asahi pentax metal cap instead. Old school :-)

That's what I do, and it looks great.

Excellent! How did you attach the cap keeper? And maybe a dumb question - but what diameter cap are you using?

Also - success removing it! Boy, was it jammed on!

I used some two-sided tape that had some thickness to it with a type of foam. Not very high-tech or permanent, but does the trick.

Very pleased with the MX-1 today - I normally shoot with a K-5, but wanted a decent 'carry around' camera.
