Oh dear! I can imagine a particular segment of the motion picture industry might find a use for it, too…

Unless it comes with a glare-free light source I doubt it will find much use in such applications

You won't get broadcast quality from the Theta in low light situations.

True, and the case would have to be weather sealed, as well.

Well, moisture resistant, let's say…

While many are hooked on kinky ideas, I would love to use it as a fishing float with remote live view on the phone.

It's not waterproof, just weather proof.

I run with my Theta

That case looks interesting, but if I can't take a photo while I'm running (without having to use an app to control the camera remotely) then it's of little use to me.

I wish that Ricoh would produce a version that's weatherproof without a case, as well as a sliding sleeve to protect the lenses.

According to the B&H Overview it is waterproof:

"The IPX7 rating means the case has passed immersion testing for 30-minutes at a depth of 1 meter."

A head strap with something like that case would be good for you.

It might look a little odd to some, but people strap all sorts of things to their heads when cycling, so why not running?

The reviews complain that it isn't exactly the case.

You might assume otherwise, but there's actually a lot to consider when composing a 360 shot.I don't think mounting on my head (besides looking dorky ) is going to produce interesting shots because it moves the camera away from where the "action" is - running along trails and occasionally catching air, running through mud, crossing a stream, etc.

And varying the camera position depending upon the situation is helpful

Fair enough, then. I was thinking that it would take the operator out of the picture if you wanted, but I guess there's a lot of head movement involved, so a sort of steady cam arrangement would be needed, which wouldn't suit a head mount at all.
