These were never meant to be in any competition (sorry for the hand )... just some vacation images using a Pana P&S from a visit to Rome late last year. Both are from the Vatican Museum...

Great perspective!

Nice photographs. I like that little castle. That enigma of mine is the elevator with the doors just closing. All these are of where I work.
Thanks!

A really special view here!

Love that last one of yours, Bart, the castle! Like out of a storybook...

Thanks, Bill!

This is a wonderful image, full of the serenity I seem to associate with Japanese scenes.

The images and diversity of subjects in this thread are great. Who ever said you can't do good photography without an 35mm or larger size camera? Congradulations to all who have presented.

Thanks, Bart, there was a team of Japanese that came and helped with the design and construction.

renew ...

Once known as the "Buffalo State Asylum for the Insane" which opened in 1880 and closed in the 1970's, it was left abandoned and deteriorating.
Today it is a National Historic Landmark, renewed and redeveloped into a boutique hotel and conference center scheduled to open this year. My hometown of Buffalo, NY is rich with historical architecture, and preservationists and developers have teamed together to rescue so many of our old buildings.

Taken on a bike ride a few years ago with my old Panasonic FS-7. PP using PSE 9 "Saturated Slide Film Effect".

Beautiful architectural shot!

I imagine the hotel rooms must have a hefty pricetag

Great shots, everyone! For those thinking of posting an entry but haven't yet: you've still got a day, but time is running out!

And that's it folks. Entries closed. I'll post the winners once I've had some time to look through and think.

So, first off: congrats to everyone who entered. A great selection of photos to choose from here. (Particularly enjoyed the number of different reflection ones, and think that would make a good theme for a future competition.)

Third: a tie, as I can't decide. Both night/evening shots outdoors, so seems fitting to pair them.

Second: I quite enjoyed seeing this interior shot.

First: both the composition and the subject, something that would be rather unusual around here, were what did it for me. Congrats, Niner Alpha! Look forward to seeing what your competition theme will be.

Once again: congrats and thank yous to everyone who submitted. It was fun to see the different ways people interpreted the theme.

Amazing to find that I was selected as the winner. I liked all of the possible choices.

I'll think over a subject for a new contest and post it soon.
