Point And Shoot Competition #100 - Light

For our 100th Competition, I thought it a good idea to pick a really broad theme.
And one that can be interpreted in many ways.
After all, is light not the very thing we work with

RULES (as per usual):

1. Have lots of fun!
2. Cameras:

No cameras with sensors larger than 1".
No large format or camera typically requiring a tripod to use.
No interchangeable lens cameras.
No 35mm (D)SLRs or any camera weighing over 1kg.

Cameras permitted (cameras listed as acceptable here supersede rules above):

Mobile phones, old and new, iPods, tablets, toy cameras.
Fixed-lens 35mm and smaller-format film and digital rangefinder and viewfinder style cameras.
Interchangeable or fixed-lens 110film SLRs and Pentax Q.
TLRs, 6x9, 6x7, 6x6, Medium Format "folding", "box", or "Holga-style" scale focus cameras ( subject to 1kg weight limitation).

ANY CAMERA BRAND ALLOWED.

3. Entries will close on Tuesday, May 31th 2016 at Midnight (gmt).
4. Maximum image dimensions are 1024x768 (ish) pixels.
5. List camera brand and model with entry for all to see, and exposure data would be nice.

6. No restrictions on when the entries were taken.
7. Contest winner determines the rules, selects theme, sets closing date and judges the next competition.

8. Enter up to three images, however you may change your entries as many times as you like up to the contest closing date/time.

9. Feel free to post a shot (not judged) which shows off your setup.

Let's see what you can do with Light
And do have fun...

To kick things off - out of competition of course:

Here's the inside of a welder test shop I frequent.

Taken with my Nexus 5x

The only lights are the fluorescent and sodium lamps, which when combine with the smoke and weld arcs makes for some neat shadows and a real idustrial revolution like feel.

Whilst as an idea "Light" might initially seem broad and - dare I say - common, I think therein lies the challenge: to make something that hits the note without copying too closely something done before. This is going to be fun to play with.

This one came to mind. Sony DSC-HX50V. Gulf Shores Alabama about two years ago. There is light and then there is light. No flash. Just available light.

I'm really glad to see the broad interpretations of this theme.
That was what I was hoping for.

This picture was taken in the early 70s with a Yashica Electro 35. It was my 1st 35mm camera and it took outstanding photos. This particular picture was taken on film and scanned years later.

I need to find the RAW file and develop it but in case I can't before Tuesday I'm posting this now.
This was taken with my Panasonic LX7 at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris on a recent family trip. The camera was purchased for the trip and was exactly what was needed. I was traveling with 5 other people, 1 mentally disabled adult, 1 father-in-law, my wife and my two high strung kids (one teen one pre-teen). There was no way any ILC was coming with me with that large a group and the agenda's planned. Honestly I'm stunned by the quality of what I was able to achieve with this small camera. The variable aspect ratio sensor and the lens combined for a delightful experience.

Another from overseas trip - this time from England and from inside a castle... what needs light more than stained glass?

Panasonic LX7.

And a final entry... a different meaning for light. In this case light of hope and opposition to darkness and evil.

My son thinks I should lose the lights and exit sign above the clock and render it so that it is either black up there or crop it out and leave only the foreground darkness and the clock. I thought with the theme it might be better to leave the lighting in place.
