Then...if people want to comment encouragement or praise any particular image... swell. Because.. at the end.. everyone who entered gets to cast one vote for the best contribution in keeping with the subject...although not being allowed to vote for themselves. After a week, or all votes are in, the contest leader announces the voting closed and states the obvious winner based on the most votes received, if the voting is by open post..... or he counts the votes if by pm style silent vote if the vote is secret. In case of a tie the one promoting the contest picks the winner. Only people who participate by submitting entries are allowed to vote otherwise.
The best way to achieve this is to win.
Then you get to set the rules for the next one

It would be one way to see if more people would enter if someone who wins would try it. This is only a suggestion of course......but if I were to ever win again I'd certainly give it a try.

For my 3rd entry, I revisited an old image from the pier in Nieuwpoort where this older couple was enjoying a morning stroll.

Taken with Panasonic FX500, 6.8mm (40mm 135 equivallent), 1/800 at f/4, ISO 100
Reprocessed in DxO filmPack5, emulation of Agfa APX 25, magenta filter, split toning and some extra contrast added.

Raccoon and Opossum.

These two have become friends. Canon SX110IS, ISO 800, 1/30 at f4. Handheld, high ISO, slow shutter speed with 10X zoom at max. Way out of my comfort range.

Thanks for looking

After much consideration and internal debate, we have our winners.

3rd place goes to Bart with his photo from the cemetary Campo Santo in Ghent.

2nd place goes to Niner Alpha with his delicious interpretation of 'mates.

And 1st place goes to UncleVanya with his photo of the dual 'mates' in Bath.

Congratulations to the the winners and all who entered the competition.

Congrats to UncleVanya. Glad that my comment didn't hurt the choice.

Wow... I didn't expect to win against this field, great shots from all!

I will do my best to get things going for the 102nd contest tomorrow. Ideas for rules can be pm'd to me but complexity isn't my favorite so I may not change anything since this format of a contest is one I am familiar with.

I thought it was a great competition with a lot of imagination in terms of interpretation. I wish I could have chosen them all as a 1st place tie.

Apologies to all. I have been overwhelmed with July 4th as I was thrust into the role of hosting an event for more people than I had been told and then the cleanup and aftermath. I will try my best to post our new contest tomorrow.

Just got back from my annual vacation (no internet access worth mentioning)
Thanks, onlineflyer for running this fine contest.
Congratulations to all the participants and especially to Niner Alpha and especially to UncleVanya!
