From the cemetary Campo Santo in Ghent

With Panasonic FX500 - 7,3 mm (43mm 35mm equivallent), Exposure:1/30 at f/4.1, ISO 100
Processed today in DxO FilmPack with Adoxs CMS 20 setting, a blue filter, added vignette & blur.

Reminds me that I should revisit that cemetary.

Very interesting composition and processing, Bart. The vignette & blur works really well, bringing the attention to the two figures.

Here are a couple more... since you can post three. Pentax Optio W20. Not my most expensive or best camera... but I use it more than any other of them.

Two very interesting one's, niner alpha. I like the variety of intrepertations, what I was hoping for from contestants.

Two great and diverse interpretations of the theme.

Come on folks, we need more photos. The subject is open to your intrepertation of 'mates'.

Perhaps there ought to be a rule that the judge shouldn't make comments about the entries as they are posted. It makes anybody that may enter feel like the contest is already compromised...even though I don't think that is the case.

The downside of this is that part of the judge's job is to get people to play so praising entries is good but I get where you are coming from as well.

I too feel this gives a sense of continuity to the contest somehow.
A "this is the one" or "that's out" might be over the top, though

Anyway, it's up to the judge I think.
Because of rule #7

My main reason for participating in the P&S competition is outlined in rule #1 >> Let's have lots of fun.

I just thought light hearted comments would encourage participation and expand the fun factor.

I'm happy with the commentary myself.

That's a heart warming story and a wonderful picture, UncleVanya. Thanks so much for sharing. Well done on the theme.
Well, Vanya I can see why you see nothing out of place. However, if someone comes to this contest idea new and sees that comment first thing....made by the person that will do the judging... I'd think it wouldn't encourage him to enter.

What if...in future contests... the previous winner and new contest starter sets the theme description and the general rules. Then...if people want to comment encouragement or praise any particular image... swell. Because.. at the end.. everyone who entered gets to cast one vote for the best contribution in keeping with the subject...although not being allowed to vote for themselves. After a week, or all votes are in, the contest leader announces the voting closed and states the obvious winner based on the most votes received, if the voting is by open post..... or he counts the votes if by pm style silent vote if the vote is secret. In case of a tie the one promoting the contest picks the winner. Only people who participate by submitting entries are allowed to vote otherwise.

I apologise to all, my intent was to have fun and create interest in the competition. I participated in several previous contests and I always recall seeing comments; however, I never paid close attention to who was making the comments. It just never entered my mind that doing so in 'mates' would inhibit entries. Again, I apologise to all.

No need to apologize. It's not something that needs an apology. I was just making an observation and suggestion.
