Here is my entry:

A Zinnia from my mother's garden. Shot as the light of day was transitioning into night. Also, the transition from fall to summer, with a summer flower shot by the light cast by a Fall sun. (The shadows on the house are something I only really notice in Autumn.)

Shot on Fuji Instax 210, full automatic, with Close Up adapter. it's super-sharp for 100% plastic optics

The photo of the print was shot with a Samsung Galaxy S5. No PP. I was going to scan the print, but I think this is more organic. (You can shoehorn the theme and say that the transition from real object to physical photo to digital photo counts.)

Thank you! and I am constantly impressed by the output from the Fujiroid cameras. a $64 camera shouldn't make shots that nice.

But diffraction always looks sharper than defocus, so even diffracting slightly at f/4.5 it will look better than wide-open softness at 2.8.

OK, it is now 11PM on Friday September 30 and here are my thoughts:

zman- great tone control with the ice and dark B/G; Nice use of DoF with the flowers, not always easy with a simpler camera
Bart- Nice Fall scene, love the leading lines in the field; Nice light on the flower and interesting shadows in the cemetery
surfur- Nice shot of the Kingfisher (?) but not enough of a transition in the image
chemtech- I get the transition in the first shot, but a stronger composition is needed; GREAT lion, nice and tight; great sunset with the plane
Uncle Vanya- Very nice transition of light, but the cars are distracting
isb- great use of the foliage and rock
unix- good picture in picture but some background elements are distracting
Prof- nice variety of textures
barondla- nice close-up/macro of snakes, and a double header!

Thanks for sharing and contributing everyone! And the winner is......
this was not easy...

Chemtech for the lion- with transition of sleep to wake, a close second is zman for the melting ice cube

Nice choices. My distracting cars were intended to be a juxtaposition against the natural sky but I can see how they can be distracting and how the shot might be better with fewer transitions rather than so many. You judge and we accept. Thank you for doing this and it was a nice topic.
