Very little, actually, but I did, yes. When the trunks are wet they look blacker to start with, and the beech leaves are that brown/gold. It got the exposure pretty well.

It doesn't look as if we'll be getting any snow this month.
So, I picked a few featuring the kind of snow we're used to over here

Both with Panasonic FX500

4.7mm (28mm equivalent), 1/640 at f/6.3, ISO 100

4.4mm (26 mm equivalent), 1/800 at f/4.5, ISO100

Any more snow than that and the country grinds to a hold

Holiday rush has begun, and with temps forecast into the 50's what snow we have will soon be gone. Dug into the archives for a third and final submission.
Taken with my Pentax MX-1 on a snowshoe hike at a local golf course into trees off the fairway that I have sprayed with many a golf ball.

You must be located in a sunny warm place....still...you get some snow. Thanks for sharing.

We haven't had significant snow for the last years where I live, so I had to dig into my old photos. This one is taken with my 10 year old Pentax Optio W20, a point and shooter. Photo shows my very rare and old Dutch native Sheep breed called Drenthe Heath Sheep. The only horned breed native to The Netherlands. This is a group of rams on the dyke. The exif says this was taken in June 2006, but that can't be the right date because June is mid summer and the black ram in the middle with the white deck was born on March 28, 2010, so according to his size, this photo must have been taken somewhere at the end of 2010/beginning 2011

That is a wonderful photo shot with that p&s. My husband used to have that same camera. I love the light off the left side of the frame and the fact that they are all so interested in what's over that rise. Well done.

And the winner is....

Thank you to all who participated in the December P&S contest, BLACK on SNOW. It is a busy month and several folks live where there is no snowfall, so I appreciate the lovely photos there were submitted. I narrowed it down to 4 shots and it was difficult to chose between these. Having never been in a position to choose the winner before, I feel humbled by it. Even so, here we go, it was difficult.

The Finalists and Winner :

3rd Place - Ehpen - Shot with the 1960 Olympus PEN on Quadra Island. What a great shot with that heavy snow on the branches and the black rails of the fence and blackness of the lane in the right foreground - Excellent Photo

2nd Place - Jacquot - Shot with the iPhone 7s . Definitely some black on snow in this one, and I love the added golden hue of those leaves. Makes me want to walk among those trees. Well Done.

1st Place and Winner - zman - Shot with the Pentax M1- The play of light and shadows on the snow, is wonderful. The blackness of those trees with the sunshine in the background, gets my 1st Place Vote. Congratulations Zman

Honourable Mention:

Titia - the Pentax Optio W20 with those Drench Heath Sheep - a real storyteller that one!

Congratulations to all. Zman, I know you will find a great subject for the JANUARY P&S contest. Looking forward to it.
