Wonderful architectural shots! Love the creativity of the last one - both in the shooting and in the interpretation

Great to have somthing to do while waiting for those more adept at shopping, isn't it

Brilliant symmetries, not making my job any easier at all!

Thanks, another set of great entries! The inscription on the Calling Card says "yanvar" - without having looked it up I'd guess that means they launched it in January '59. A very fascinating time in our history.

Thank you, for the language interpretation! I have discovered a mystery.

I did some research and found this: Soviet Spacecraft Pennants

it seems this sphere could have been made for the Luna I mission.

Link to my fuzzy description pic: http:///www.pentaxforums.com/forums/members/27077-chemtech/albums/12094-fuzz...ture112595.jpg

The wording of the description could be interpreted as" like" the one from the Luna II mission.

Several sites that have a sphere pic from the Luna II mission show the January date. Hmmmm.

In the near future I'll check out the one at the Eisenhower Center. I'm curious which one Khrushchev brought with him to give the President.

I think you are right. I found this site showing a (not too good) picture of the Luna II spheres with the inscription "сентябрь" (Sentyabr/September). The site has quite a lot of technical information about the mission.

A wonderful demonstration of the close-up capabilities of the GR - a camera I instantly fell in love when I first laid hand on it. Hard to comprehend how I could manage without it for so long
