Point and Shoot Competition #118 - Shadows

It took me for a while to choose the theme, but here it is, this time it's "Shadows".
Show me what you can do with shadows. Sharp one or soft one. Subtle gradation of darkness or solid black patch of underexposure. Straight, curved, organic, really anything.
Show off your creative use of shadows (and let me steal your idea ).
Let your creativity dictate, not the spec of the camera!

Rules:
1. Always have fun!

2. Cameras:

No cameras with sensors larger than 1" (some exceptions below).
No large format or camera typically requiring a tripod to use.
No interchangeable lens cameras (some exceptions below).
No 35mm (D)SLRs or any camera weighing over 1kg.

Cameras permitted (cameras listed as acceptable here supersede rules above):
Mobile phones, old and new, iPods, tablets, toy cameras.
Fixed-lens 35mm and smaller-format film and digital cameras (Fuji X100 and GR OK).
Interchangeable or fixed-lens 110film SLRs and Pentax Q.

ANY CAMERA BRAND ALLOWED.

3. Entries will close November 20, 2017 00:00:00 GMT.

4. Maximum image dimensions are 1024x768 (ish) pixels.

5. List camera brand and model with entry for all to see, and exposure data would be nice.

6. No restrictions on when the entries were taken.

7. Contest winner determines the rules, selects theme, sets closing date and judges the next competition.

8. Enter up to three images, however you may change your entries as many times as you like up to the contest closing date/time.

To me it looks like a cool alternative world! Interesting contrast of vertical shadow of the legs VS diagonal edges/beams/rails.
Thank you David for a great start!

Great theme, but I have to sit this one out. Appears that shadow is one of the things I've never photographed. I've photographed light, but never shadow. Shame on me

Great theme, kwb! It took a while but I found one that might work. It's older and been cropped for a different project.

Cool! I found the thread for fellow point-and-shoot-ers!

First time using Flickr for this, so let me know if something doesn't show up.

Shadows, eh? These are all from my Pentax Optio, largely because I'm way behind in tagging stuff from my other cameras. Shadows are one way I as a solo traveler get selfies (the others are reflections and putting personal items in the shot, like my bicycle, backpack, or umbrella).
The first one is from a local warship museum, really just a drydocked ship with a few displays in it. The statue on the bow is a hero of the ship Cheonan. The North Koreans sank it (this is quite recently--2010) with a number of young sailors on board. Perhaps inspired by his own son's army service he insisted, against orders, that he go into the cold deep to try to rescue the younger men. It cost him his life This embodies the Confucian virtue of the older folks looking out for the younger.

ƒ/3.1 5.0 mm 1/1250 100 Flash (off, did not fire)

The second one has a less colorful story--I just liked how my umbrella shaded the plaque so I could get good contrast.

Pentax Optio VS20
ƒ/3.1 5.0 mm 1/50 157 Flash (off, did not fire)

The third is a bit older, a little shrine in a small town in southwestern Japan. It was my last week in that town and I went around that night shooting just about everything. Brightness fixed in GIMP. The flash off was intentional.

Wonderful entries on a great theme, David, John, Edith and Barbara!

My entries are not recently taken but I just reprocessed these, using DxO PhotoLab with an emulation of Fuji Velvia 50 and exploring the new control points for local adjustments.
Shadows is necessarily also about the light as well, I think. So, I tried to give both a hand in the processing.

All were taken with Panasonic FX500
(the only point and shoot I own )

Cemetery Campo Santo near Ghent

On the pier in Nieuwpoort, a frosty day
12.2 mm (72 mm equivalent), 1/800 at f/4.9, ISO 100

Classic shadowplay always fun though
4.4 mm (26 mm equivalent), 1/400 at f/2.8, ISO 100

Ok, I found one that could be suitable to the assignment. Without light there's no shadow.

Found another one. I call it 'The Dignitary'. A strange combination of a mushroom and a piece of liquorice
