Thank you Bart - you were talking about mine? I had those doubts creeping in almost as soon as I posted them - did I have shake reduction off while on tripod? will anyone notice that patch to the side that I darkened in post?... should I have cropped the second?... I'm sure most people have these sort of thoughts...

Yes I was, Richard.

A healthy dose of self-criticism is never bad but no doubts are in order here

Lots of great entries!

PLEASE NOTE: I will be "in transit" at the end of the month (Iceland!) so it may take a few extra days before I can decide a winner.

As a retired clinical instructor in Radiography Technology, I used to take my students on a field trip to a local X-Ray Museum. From the archives again, a x-ray tube and old time accessories.

Fuji X-10 and post-processed using PSE 9

That's one cool looking tube. Excellent image of something rarely seen. Does this screw into a normal lightbulb size receptacle or a bigger one?
Thanks for sharing,

I'm no expert, but it looks like an old GE Coolidge tube. The glass tube is placed in a metal housing that is then filled with oil to help dissipate heat. In the old days before recycling, the broken tubes were just thrown out. I was lucky to get one from a service tech decades ago and still have it as a display piece.

A remarkable piece of "glass", zman!
I'm normally not that keen on selective colouring but in this image, it looks to have a good effect.
