Great entries everyone!

A jar of cookies my wife makes each year around this season. Pentax Q7, Q 02 Standard Zoom, ISO 100, F/5.6, 1/100s.

Door with shimekazari (traditional Japanese New Year decoration). Pentax Q7, Q 02 Standard Zoom, ISO 100, F/5.6, 1/25s.

Some say you shouldn't put these ornaments on 29th of December for whatever (probably spiritual?) reasons, it's funny as Japan didn't know about the Gregorian calendar when they started making this kind of ornaments, but anyway. It's been either overcast or rainy or snowy these days, and the sun was out yesterday, Dec. 29th, so I put it on, took a shot and removed it from the door ;-) Today I put it on again and my house is ready for a new year.
I wish you all a happy new year!

Thanks for your entries, kwb!
The Japanese is of particular interest to me because I never heard or saw that.

As this contest it coming to its end, so is the year.
So, a Happy New Year to all of you from me as well!

There is still quite some hours left to add your entries here

The contest is now closed.
I'll let you all know the "verdict" in the course of the day.

I thought I was going to have an easier job selecting the winner because of the limited number of entries.
I was wrong

All fine entries and following the theme!

But since there can only be 1 winner, I had to make a choice anyway.
For me, the winner is Titia with the first entry:

Beautiful composition and great work with balancing the light and dark.
Rich and warm colours that suggest the warmth of these holidays.

Thanks again to all that participated!
I really enjoyed your entries.

Over to you, Titia, for the next instalment of the Point & Shoot competition

Thank you Bart, I'm honored. New challenge, give me a day to come up with another 'out of the box' subject. LOL
