Point and Shoot Competition #132 - something red

Something red

I can't really take credit for coming up with this theme but I saw this on another forum and it had loads of reactions.
It's such a broad theme that anyone can find an image that fits the theme.

The something red doesn't need to be the main subject but it should be fairly obvious.

Rules:

1. Always have fun!

2. Cameras:

No cameras with sensors larger than 1" (some exceptions below).
No large format or camera typically requiring a tripod to use.
No interchangeable lens cameras (some exceptions below).
No 35mm (D)SLRs or any camera weighing over 1kg.

Cameras permitted (cameras listed as acceptable here supersede rules above):
Mobile phones, old and new, iPods, tablets, toy cameras.
Fixed-lens 35mm and smaller-format film and digital cameras (Fuji X100 and GR OK).
Pentax Q, Nikon 1, interchangeable or fixed-lens 110 film.

ANY CAMERA BRAND ALLOWED.

3. Entries will close February 28th, 2019 midnight EDT.

4. Maximum image dimensions are 1024x768 (ish) pixels.

5. List camera brand and model with entry for all to see, and exposure data would be nice.

6. No restrictions on when the entries were taken.

7. Contest winner determines the rules, selects theme, sets closing date and judges the next competition.

8. Enter up to three images, however you may change your entries as many times as you like up to the contest closing date/time.

I'm really looking forward to what you all will come up with.

Some samples to get you going ...

Love your chosen theme. In the photoclub I used to be a member of we also worked with themes. The photo had to be made that month. Once we had 'Yellow'. It really gets into your brain. It was several years ago but I still see everything yellow when I'm driving around. LOL

Merv-O: I don't see anything Red in your photos.

Thank you for pointing the missing red theme in my now deleted pictures -- I replaced them and corrected them above--However, as a "purist", you will agree that your dancer's shirt is orange, not red, and thus Mea Culpa...

Great opener, Titia.
Really diverse entries.

Merv-O,

I'm afraid I'll have to be a spoilsport.
Your submissions, right on theme as they are, don't qualify since your camera is definitely using a larger than 1 inch sensor.

The camera doesn't fall under the exceptions either.

Was experimenting stacking today.

Shriveled rosehip in the afternoon sun. Pentax Q7 and 06 telephoto lens at 32.4mm, f/2.8, 1/800 sec, ISO 100, a 3-shot stack to reduce noise.

Rosehip

Red machine in snow. Same camera and lens as above, this is 17mm, f/3.5, composite of 3 shots using 1/80 sec and +-1.3EV setting for subtler HDR in post (than in-body).

Machine and snow

It's a 4/3rds isn't it? Oh well smallest one I've got...Bart--it's more than a one inch sensor...Where's my old Pentax Optimo 60?

Merv-O, would your camera qualify in the exceptions category? Is the lens fixed in place - non removable?
Thanks,
barondla

Yes it's a fixed lens but it's not specifically listed as an exception so C'est La Vie....the OP has spoken. I thought I was ok with it, but there seems to be rancor. it's all in fun anyway, so I won't post to this thread as I don't have the right "kit" for it. Thanks for the defense...

Bart: it does have a fixed lens--isn't that an exception and it's smaller than 35mm,,,you created the thread so as I stated when the OP(Bart) cans you it's all over....they were good images though.

Sometimes meanings and feelings don't come across as intended in posts. The written word, different languages, and even different cultures can affect the outcome. I don't for a second believe Bart intended his post to be rancorous. Give him time to review the thread.

I agree with you those are good images. Better than good.
Thanks for sharing,
barondla

Rancor?
What would be the motive.
I'm just keeping the playing field level, as was the intent when the camera list was decided upon a few years ago.
As for falling under the exceptions, I don't think so.
As I understand it, the fixed lens is a fixed focal length as in the fujifilm X100, the ricoh GR or their descendants, not a lens that cannot be removed from the camera.
Now one could use a sony RX1 or a leica Q under these exceptions

I know the participation hasn't been abundant lately but let's stick to the list.
I hope you're OK with that, Merv.

That being said, glad to see your entries kwb and David.
Hopefully we'll get lots more.

Fair enough....thanks for the follow-up...I misunderstood. My lens is fixed onto the camera but it is a tele...so I agree under those precepts, it doesn't qualify, but, point to note: iPhones have tele capacity also...
