Last week I got the chance to sail for a four-day tour of lighthouses in the PNW aboard a 1924 restored motor-sailor yacht, the schooner Zodiac. Among the shots I took was this snap of the bilges and propellor shaft one day when the captain was checking on things. Samsung Galaxy S9 pic, no flash, no post processing (I was impressed by how it turned out)

Fine entry, Jim!
Great composition and colours.

I must remember to explore the possibilities of the camera on my phone

BNBPhoto,

Your images don't show up for me.

I spent a summer vacation along the Ourthe. Many years ago

There, I hope it shows now.

Bart, yes the Ourthe runs through Liege where it throws itself into the Meuse.

Thank you. Nailing the exposure on these was quite a challenge.

Especially composing on the rear LCD. 😋

Very strong entries from everyone made this a tough contest to judge. Good work everyone. Well done

Winner is Titia with Seeds of the Impatiens glandulifera. Love the out of focus background that comes into focus in the water drop, revealing a brick wall in the background. Also find the out of focus dark patch , on left side of screen, fascinating. It looks like crown. Of course non of this would matter if the water drops on the plant didn't portray moisture.

Now it is time for Titia to setup and run the next contest.

Thanks again to everyone for taking the time to enter their superb images.

Thanks,
barondla

Congratulations, Titia, that one really is a great capture. I hadn’t realized that the background came into focus in the droplet till Barondla pointed it out, very cool!

Wow, excellent choice Barondla. Like others, I had not noticed the focussed brick wall in the water drop! Brilliant, Titia, congrats and well done.

Oh WOW, never expected a chance to win with all those great entries. Thanks. I was away for the whole day yesterday. The dark spot in the background is one of our small stable doors and the 'crown' is the way they finish them at the top. I'll do my best to set up a new contest as soon as possible.

You must have great eyes Barondla. I myself only noticed the brick wall in the rain drop after I had made the photo and put it on my computer.

Not great eyes. Just spent a lot of time looking over the entries. There are a lot of "layers" to your image.

1. Out of focus background in focus foreground. Except the water drop contains a sliver of in focus background.
2. Image looks all organic - nothing man made. Except the water drop highlights a man made brick wall.
3. Shows that man often influences nature.
4. Crown gives a feeling of nature's stature.
5. Both in and out of focus man made and nature components.

Thanks Titia for an excellent photo and explaining the crown.
