The GR III is indeed one of the top 5 cameras in its class today. No brainer!

I was wondering whether anyone here has some info about sales numbers so far?
Ricoh discusses this and much, much more here: interview with Ricoh Imaging General Sales Manager for Europe -

Ricoh is very impressed with GR III sales.

in 2017 someone tried to estimate the amount of Ricoh sales, then go to comments and see how even this writer's article may not be accurate

Ricoh Imaging sales are roughly half those of Leica - Pentax Rumors

I have just pressed the button on one - it will be here in time for my birthday, so sales are up by one more.

A quote from the link.

"Some interesting research done by a reader (thanks Mistral75):

In the 1960s and 1970s Asahi Optical was bigger than Canon and Nikon together."

I'm not surprised. I bought my first Pentax camera (S1A) in 1968, then my second (ES ll) in '74 and I recall those years. Pentax seemed to absolutely dominate the market, but cameras.... such as the Canon AE1, Nikon EM...appealing consumer cameras started to come out in the '70's and things started to change. Later on cameras such as the Minolta 7000 came out and the battle was on.

Pasting from this interview thread since it's relevant to this topic. Indeed it seems to be selling well in Europe interview with Ricoh Imaging General Sales Manager for Europe -

"One of the most important products of our group is the Ricoh GR, the ideal device for street photography. We launched the Ricoh GR III 6 months ago and we are enjoying an extraordinary success: compared to the sales we made with the GR II we have had an absolutely incredible jump, especially in Europe where we have multiplied our sales by 7 or 8. It's therefore one of the pillars of the group today and one of the areas Ricoh are investing heavily in. In the future, many developments in the GR range are to be expected."

Sales are continuing to rise. I just purchased my GR III last week. Only had it a few days, so still getting used to it but I have to say so far I've been impressed.
