In Australia, the S100FS is about A$750. The Olympus E-420 twin lens kit is also around that price at A$770 or so. The S100FS is smaller than the E-420 has IS and stuff but the E-420 seems to have more values (since it is a DSLR) but has no IS.

If the S100FS drop to something like say A$400, I think I will not hesitate to get one. I saw an AD of a Fuji S6000 (an old stock but new set) selling for A$330. I am hoping the S100FS drop to that kind of value. Fat hope I know...

Another vote for the Fuji's. I have an older Fuji P&S (my first digital camera and it still works) and last year I bought a Fuji "bridge" type camera for my daughter (the 5700 model I think) that was on clearance and she really loves it and gets great results. The Panasonics also look interesting. I have a friend with one and he likes it and has had a couple of shots published in regional magazines he took with it (the model escapes me at the moment, its a bridge camera also).

yes. the fuji bridge cameras are really quite nice. only probs are the high cost with respect to a consumer dslr. maybe they should be more aggressive in their pricing.

Just a quick bump in this thread to tell you guys that I ordered a refurbished Fuji S6500fd for my wife for A$199.95. The S9500 is selling for A$299.95 (refurbished) but I decided to stick with the S6500fd.

I should have gotten the k-m for my wife but it is too darn expensive now and my wife demanded to have a camera now hahahahaha
