Point and Shoot Competition #165 - Randomness

The hard part of being chosen as the 'winner' of the 'competition' is thinking up a new theme and trying not to re-do an earlier one. So, let's try a variation on shooting random images. This month, the theme will be to express randomness itself - grains of sand, fallen leaves, scatterings of stones, whatever you see that looks like it has a pattern of having no pattern... Could be a macro, bokeh, whatever strikes you for inspiration. I'll attach one image as my example, although it won't count for anything since it came off my K-50 - some nice shiny lava from Hawaii's 2018 eruption.

Rules:

1. Always have fun!

2. Cameras:

No cameras with sensors larger than 1"
No large format or camera typically requiring a tripod to use.
No interchangeable lens cameras (some exceptions below).
No (D)SLRs or any camera weighing over 1kg.

Cameras permitted:
Mobile phones, tablets, small sensor toy cameras.
Pentax Q, Nikon 1, Ricoh GR, any 110 film, 35mm point and shoots from the 1980s/90s (e.g. Pentax PC35AF etc.)
Cameras you can take with you in a coat pocket.

ANY CAMERA BRAND ALLOWED.

3. Entries will close December 31st, 2021 midnight CDT.

4. Maximum image dimensions are 1024x768 (ish) pixels.

5. List camera brand and model with entry for all to see, and exposure data would be nice.

6. No restrictions on when the entries were taken.

7. Contest winner determines the rules, selects theme, sets closing date and judges the next competition.

8. Enter up to three images, however you may change your entries as many times as you like up to the contest closing date/time.

Now go out and have fun!

Panasonic LX-7 taken in March. Re-edited today. Emphasis is on the cloud and sand patterns.

Maybe the randomness was in the photographer than the photograph in this case, but I tried sticking my camera into tumbleweed as I didn't know what to do.
Pentax Q7, Q-01 Standard Prime, f/8, ISO100, 1/10 sec. Lowered vibrance and saturation.

Time to rejoin the party here. I'll post three, all iPhone shots the reeds are iPhoneX, the others iPhone 7. Such an interesting topic. In one sense anything of the moment is total randomness, even if it includes planning. Great to ponder it all.

Kwb, I do believe that is the closest look eve inside a tumbleweed! Fascinating shot...

Jacquot, those are really nice - what is the first one? Looks like a deteriorating painted surface maybe?

Thanks! My guess for David’s first shot is a frosted window surface, maybe a car parked outside? Whether or not that’s the case, that’s a great shot that made me think for a while!!

That was it, a window surprise in the light of a brilliantly cold morning.
