Point and Shoot competition #168 - Something Old Something New

For a previous competition I chose the subject of "Something New" in which the photo had to be taken within the competition dates. This is completely different. I would like the entries to contain something over 50 years old AND something under 10 years old. It could be an old building and a new person or an old person and a new camera. It can be architectural, portrait, nature.... anything really but all in the same exposure, no merging shots please. When I'm judging I'll be looking for something where the Old and New really jump out at me rather than having to look too deeply.

Good luck everyone:-

Rules:

1. Always have fun!

2. Cameras:

No cameras with sensors larger than 1"
No large format or camera typically requiring a tripod to use.
No interchangeable lens cameras (some exceptions below).
No (D)SLRs or any camera weighing over 1kg.

Cameras permitted:
Mobile phones, tablets, small sensor toy cameras.
Pentax Q, Nikon 1, Ricoh GR, any 110 film, 35mm point and shoots from the 1980s/90s (e.g. Pentax PC35AF etc.)
Cameras you can take with you in a coat pocket.

ANY CAMERA BRAND ALLOWED.

3. Entries will close March 31st, 2022 midnight GMT.

4. Maximum image dimensions are 1024x768 (ish) pixels.

5. List camera brand and model with entry for all to see, and exposure data would be nice.

6. No restrictions on when the entries were taken.

7. Contest winner determines the rules, selects theme, sets closing date and judges the next competition.

8. Enter up to three images, however you may change your entries as many times as you like up to the contest closing date/time.

Sorry about not joining in for so long. This was taken last summer straight from my phone. 1960 Thunderbird, and you will just have to trust me on my wifes age.

Nice shot but I'm trying to figure out which one is under 10 years old. The Thunderbird is unlikely. If its your wife..... I reckon that's illegal in most parts of the world

Its looking that way

To be honest, these contests don't always attract a huge number of entries. The specific nature of the subject is meant to encourage people to go out and look for a new shot that meets the brief, rather than look through their back catalogues for something that would do. So people might need a bit of time to get out there and get their shot. I'm hoping that those entries will come flooding in just before the closing date........ but I always was the optimist

Pentax Q7 with Graflex Sport 5x7 SLR. The Q7 is slightly younger than 10, while the Graflex is around 100 years old.

Taken with original Pentax Q and #01 standard lens.

Thanks for looking,

Nice shot which certainly hits the brief. How old is the Pentax Q? I was thinking you could have shot the Graflex and Pentax Q with the Pentax Q using the timer and a mirror

Technically the original Q misses the less than 10 year mark. It was introduced Sept 2011. I could have used a mirror with the Q7. Don't have a loose mirror that is big enough to include the complete Graflex. Camera was patented in 1907. It is probably over 100 years old. It weighs 11.5 lbs. Photographers are so pampered now
Thanks,
barondla
