Point and Shoot Competition #172 - One Step Beyond

Welcome to contest #172. This month's theme is One Step Beyond. Take image-processing too far—excessive contrast, saturation, manipulation, any of those no-nos from your Photography 101 class. Throw out any sense of restraint or decorum out the window, manipulate to your heart's content!

Rules:

1. Always have fun!

2. Cameras:

No cameras with sensors larger than 1"
No large format or camera typically requiring a tripod to use.
No interchangeable lens cameras (some exceptions below).
No (D)SLRs or any camera weighing over 1kg.

Cameras permitted:
Mobile phones, tablets, small sensor toy cameras.
Pentax Q, Nikon 1, Ricoh GR, any 110 film, 35mm point and shoots from the 1980s/90s (e.g. Pentax PC35AF etc.)
Cameras you can take with you in a coat pocket.

ANY CAMERA BRAND ALLOWED.

3. Entries will close July 31st, 2022 midnight EDT.

4. Maximum image dimensions are 1024x768 (ish) pixels.

5. List camera brand and model with entry for all to see, and exposure data would be nice.

6. No restrictions on when the entries were taken.

7. Contest winner determines the rules, selects theme, sets closing date and judges the next competition.

8. Enter up to three images, however you may change your entries as many times as you like up to the contest closing date/time.

Thanks and Good Manipulating!

Here are a few transgressions against photographic taste to give you some inspiration (all shot with Pentax Q-7, processed in PhotoShop Elements):

All processing, except resizing, done in Pentax Q7. Combined a bunch of the digital filters. Taken with #04 Wide Toy lens.

Thanks for looking,

That’s seriously strong. Great execution of the theme.

I'm trying to avoid going straight to photoshop for this one (although I may resort to that later). I wanted my "special effects" to be created in camera for this one so I turned to one of my film bodies for this shot. I took it on my Yashica 35 Electro GTN which has a fixed 45mm lens and weighs less than 1kg, which meets the competition rules. It's a double exposure shot on Ilford FP4 film. I didn't know how successful I'd be stopping the film from advancing before making the second exposure but it worked well.

An old shot from my Oly XZ-1, worked over in Gimp... I fiddled around with color balance, saturation, applied a filter called 'waterpixels' that sorta made it look like a painting. And I pasted a thumbnail in of the original (true color) photo. My brother shooting me with his rig while I was shooting him. Maybe 30-40 feet under at a Puget Sound dive site (back when he and I were still divers...).

Cinema.

Pentax Q7, Q 06 Telephoto at the long end (EXIF says 44.7mm), which wasn't long enough so I cropped to just 2.7Mp from the original 12Mp. ISO100, f/2.8, 1/30sec. Radial blur was done in Photoshop.

Normally, I do my utmost not to go one step beyond

I do like what I can get with this kind of processing though so, instead of one step, I decided to go "a giant leap beyond"

Image settings are completely irrelevant with this processing, I think.
Just stating all source images were taken with Panasonic FX500 and in Paris La Défense.
I rather liked the way these responded to this processing. I used some Neural filters in PS and some minimal extra tweaking in LR.

Instead of the image settings, I've added a small view of the source images

Relocation Office is the more literal translation for Bureau de Rélogement but Housing Office is closer to the meaning. Nothing grim but Relocation Office sits better with the feel I tried to get

Relocation Office

Rainy Rush hour

City of blinding lights

Great work, Bart. I really like the color palette in Relocation Office.
