Backup's lets see,

Casio EXZ-700
Casio Z-1050
Panasonic LZ5

The casio 700 gets the most use as it takes excellent pictures and it fits in my shirt pocket. the 1050 although its a 10MP camera does not produce the same quality as the 700, The Panasonic still takes excllent pictures but its rather large for quick trips.

All of the above are going on the marketplace soon to be replaced by a A30

I have an Optio 550 for my backup/bicycle/car/grab and go camera. The start-up time and shutter lag are so slowwwwwwwwwwwwwww, but it really has given me some nice shots. I have several 8X 10s that are remarkable. Lots of manual control too.

My backup/P&S is a Canon PowerShot A530.

However, I'm thinking of getting something that's a bit more compact than the A530.

Panasonic FZ8
Panasonic LZ2
Sony DSC-F717
Argus C-3 Brick
Yashica GS or GSN
Those are our P&S cameras we use when not using the dSLRs or SLRs.

Casio EX-Z4 ... it has a Pentax lens... 35mm equiv of 35mm-105mm.
I knew the name Pentax for a long time and that factored into me buying that P&S for my wife years back.

I bring along my Panasonic LX1 and/or FX01 most times with my k10d, mostly because I like having a wide angle view without having to change my long lens. I own an fz30 and will take that out when lighting is good and I want to travel light, but it doesn't go with me when I am carrying the k10d. I also just had a refurbished fuji f20 converted into an IR only camera by maxmax, that WILL go with me everywhere the k10d does. I love IR and being able to shoot handheld is quite a bonus. I have a few cameras and use them when the conditions call for something light and easy.

Boy, that's a loaded question.
Currently, it's a Canon A540, that I hate.
But in the past, I've also had:
Nikon Coolpix 5700 - stolen, loved it.
Olympus FE-170 - hated it, and it died after 2 weeks.
2 Nikon Coolpix 4300 - both died from stuck lens, but I loved it, if I ever find another one, I'm down grading to it from my current Canon
Some old Sony model that also died.

My backup camera is an MZ-S. The backup to that is an SF-1. The pocket camera is a Pentax IQZoom 120SW which goes from 28-120mm fov in 35 mm terms. I find it difficult to live with a 28mm fov for max wide angle, let alone a 38.

Canon A610 with the swiveling screen. I wouldn't buy a P&S without one of these, they're so useful & versatile in all types of situations (although I would like to pick up one of the tiny Canon Elphs one of these days for those times when anything else would be too large to carry around. That way, I can always have a camera in my pocket). Also, Canon seems to be one of the only companies to still offer an optical viewfinder. Call me old fashioned, but I would never buy a camera without one of these either. They seem to consistently make the best consumer priced P&S cameras. Fortunately, they still sell an updated version of the same camera. If something disasterous happened to mine (quite likely, as my teenaged daughter uses it on occasion), I would buy another. I don't see anything from any other manufacturer that offers a reasonable alternative.
I also own an older Nikon Coolpix 990 with a swiveling back & a great super-wide angle attachment that I'm considering selling, as I no longer use it much. It's a little too big. If I'm carrying around such a large P&S, I might as well take my DSLR. Cost $1000 new, worth less than $100 now.

Well, since I only had 1 digicam before getting my K10D, my 4 year old Fuji S3000 is my only backup. It may lack in features and speed, which is what prompted me to look for something in the first place, but it still takes a really nice picture.
