Point & Shoot Contest #16 "Water You Looking At?"

Welcome to P&S contest #16. Standard rules for this contest are as follows:

Rules of entry

1. ANY camera other than a slr/dslr is eligble.
2. Entries will end on Sunday March 1st 6 pm Japan time.
3. Maximum image dimensions are 800 X 800 pixels.
4. List camera BRAND, MODEL, and FORUM NAME with entry for all to see.
5. The theme is "Water You Looking At?"
6. Maximum of 3 photos per photographer.
7. Post processing is fine.
8. Winner will set up and judge next contest.
9. Remember to have FUN!

The theme is "Water You Looking At?", so show us your water shots. Anything from the ocean down to a single drop of water is fine. The water needn't be the main subject of the photo; if it's only purpose in the photo is to keep afloat the boat you were photographing, that's fine.

Extra credit for film shots.

Well, I'll paste up the first one for everyone to throw rotten fruit at. This was
taken with an Olympus 35RC 35mm rangefinder set at infinity, f11 or f16 using
Arista 400 color film (cheap stuff I get from Freestyle). Negative scanned at 2400dpi
on an Epson 4490 scanner. I hope the weather warms up so I can add a couple more shots:

canal scene, Huntsville, Alabama

Sorry, no ocean scenes, and looking over the ones I took off the fantail of a ship
look rather boring.

And here's the second one for rotten fruit. It's an HDR of 6 exposures from my Canon A540 - all f8.0, ISO80, exposures of 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1, 2.5, and 6 seconds.

Sunrise at Loeb Boathouse

I'll see what else I got in the archives (for some reason, this camera doesn't make it out as much . . .)

My 3 candidates:

Path through the dunes.

Pond.

Pier.

Still toying with B&W. Used DxO Filmpack for this conversion.

All with Panasonic FX500.

Thanks, Barondla, I got the scanner around Thanksgiving 2007. Epsononline was
having a sale with two 10% coupons and free shipping, came to $86 for the 4490. Eventually I want to upgrade to the V700.

Just cause I keep putting off going through some old P&S stuff and doing some post, here's something from back in 2007, that's maybe a little different, while I procrastinate.

Here are two from my old Sony Cybershot 3.1mp P&S. This is still my favorite P&S I have ever owned. The first one, I took the original and performed a little fake tilt shift effect on it...turned out pretty cool to me. The second one, I just converted to B&W in Picassa and cropped.

Location is the Greek island of Hydra, Spring 2006.

OK, here are my other two, both shot with a Canon A540.

This first one may be a bit of a stretch, but I swear those leaves are wet.

And this second one is out of season, but why not enter it?

I love the one with the jack-o-lanterns...looks like a silly, sad party...perhaps suicide was their next move?

That's quite an aquarium for photos, I should go visit that sometime.

BTW, Jasvox, I grabbed a shot of that cannon with you in mind.
