I'd suggest the new Fuji F200EXR. Big 1/1.6 sensor in a very compact body. Excellent DR and a useful 28-135mm zoom. $400 Cdn is not bad considering the Pany LX3 is $550ish Cdn. I'm even considering a F200EXR myself.

I just got a Panasonic DMC-FX150. It had the options I wanted, full manual controls and RAW. So far I am very happy with the Panasonic DMC-FX150. Pictures display good color, fairly sharp (for a P&S, anyway), very good DR, and not much noise. Comes with 14 MP, which is more than I need. The Panasonic DMC-FX150 is a distinct improvement over my old Canon Powershot S60.
