Point & Shoot Contest #19 "Show off your corner of the world!"

Well, I kind of feel I sneaked in as the winner of contest #18 but here we go with the new contest.
I do hope we get some more participants this time!

Rules of entry

1. ANY camera other than a slr/dslr is eligble.
2. Entries will end on Sunday May 31st 18 00 GMT.
3. Maximum image dimensions are 800 X 800 pixels.
4. List camera BRAND, MODEL, and FORUM NAME with entry for all to see.
5. The theme is "Show off your corner of the world!"
6. Maximum of 3 photos per photographer.
7. Post processing is fine.
8. Winner will set up and judge next contest.
9. Remember to have FUN!

About the theme:
I think this could be quite interesting seeing how many different nationalities we've got on the forum. A lot of these places we will never get to see in person.
So, the idea is to show off your little corner of the world. I would define this as the region you can reach in a 1 day round trip from your home (by car). For those of you that are always 'on the road', just pick a one.
This could be landscapes, cityscapes, street scenes or even an object that is so closely related to your region that it has become a symbol of your region.
You can pick any season you prefer.

Besides, I think this is your normal "hunting ground". It might encourage you to look at it again with 'fresh eyes'.

By the way, don't forget to mention where your pictures are from!

Good luck to all and do have fun.

# Note it is a taken with a Canon A1000, not a Pentax (tut, tut)

The blur on the right is a high pressure cleaner being used. spray blowing in the breeze.

These three shots are from $10 35mm film point and shoots off ebay. First shot
is from an Olympus Stylus:

Tea House, Monte Sano State Park near Huntsville, Alabama

2nd and 3rd shots of Bridge Street Town Centre (Huntsville, AL) taken with
a Ricoh FF-3AF 35mm point and shoot. Bridge Street is an ambitious enterprise
consisting of a system of canals and toney shops. Along with pedalboats you
can rent, they have two Italian gondolas and I hope to catch some pics of those
at night.

Film used in all three was Krogers 400 film, rebadged Ferrania that sells for 99c
a roll and of course they are discontinuing it. Scans at 2400dpi, Epson 4490 and
I used these wide frames cuz I think pictures look better against a dark background,
rather than ummm, fishbelly white.;o)

Here are some of the common sights at the beaches and islands of the Philippines:

Sun (or lack of it in this photo)

Sand (and some tunes)

Sea

Notes:
Used my Panasonic LX3 for these shots

Edit: These are from my recent trip to Bacolod in the Negros region. Lots of beautiful beaches in our country.

The Missouri river from the look-out in White Cloud, Kansas. The spot where four states intersect: Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska & Iowa. There is an odd sense of sameness to the four states. The river and plains in front, wooded area behind. Shot with my Pentax X70 in whatever my user mode for the day was. Debbie

Lake Champlain taken from Colchester Point a little north of Burlington. The mountains in the distance are the Adirondacks. The sunsets, mountains, and lake are all emblematic of this area.

Taken with a Fuji FinePix S5100. Multiple images stitched into a panorama.

Nine days and two weekends left, people!
Surely you all have some wonderful photos laying around on this subject?

PS not to imply that what we have so far is not great, of course.
Just keep them comming!

Taken with my Pentax W60, not as good as my K20d, but it does fit in the pocket.

Hi, Royston.
Nice entry on the forum. Welcome!

Thanks for the submissions so far, everybody.

To all the other P&S shooters out there who didn't submit yet: some two more days to go. Take your "shot". Don't be shy .
