Point & Shoot Contest #20 "Decrepitude"

Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary tells us:

Pronunciation:
\di-ˈkre-pə-ˌtüd, -ˌtyüd\

: the quality or state of being decrepit

And for "decrepit" tells us:

1: wasted and weakened by or as if by the infirmities of old age
2 a: impaired by use or wear : worn-out b: fallen into ruin or disrepair
3: dilapidated, run-down

So that's what we're looking for; photos of people, places, or things that can described as "decrepit".

Bonus points for film.

Rules of entry

1. ANY camera other than a slr/dslr is eligble.
2. Entries will end on Sunday June 28 0900 Japan time (00:00 GMT).
3. Maximum image dimensions are 800 X 800 pixels.
4. List camera BRAND, MODEL, and FORUM NAME with entry for all to see.
5. The theme is "Decripitude"
6. Maximum of 3 photos per photographer.
7. Post processing is fine.
8. Winner will set up and judge next contest.
9. Remember to have FUN!

Actually, a favourite subject of mine.

No people shots, I'm afraid. They are just not my forte.

I did come up with some examples I like.
All with Panasonic FX500.

Rusty.

The crypt.

I guess nobody from the lineage still alive to take care of it. Sad, really.

In the Hand of God.

The Hand of God isn't too bad but the souls are quite weathered.

By the way, the last two pictures are from a cemetery around Gent, Belgium, called 'Campo Santo' (= +/- Holy field). If you're interested: a link.
And if you would like to see some more: a little gallery by me ( all with Panasonic FX500)

My work takes me to some unusual places at times. That is the one thing I'll miss when I retire. My co-worker and I stumbled upon what looked like a very old and quite abandoned farm. All I had was my cell phone so I took this picture of this old truck. I really like the groovy rusty colours on the door. All in all, it was extremely decrepit. There was one old vehicle with a tree growing up through the floor boards and out the roof! But the image didn't show up - weird.

EXIF doesn't show it but it was taken with a Motorola (Red Krazer) cell phone camera.

My 2 "Decrepitude" shots, take with my new Fuji F200EXR.

EXR mode set on DR priority; no PP, just 0.7 USM and resized.

An old building's roof in Marysville, MT (an old mining town, now mostly abandoned). Canon Powershot A80, my little 4mp workhorse.

I haven't been able to get any shutter time in lately. So, if it is allowed, I will submit this from a previous contest. It fits the theme perfectly.

Taken with Nikon Coolpix 2500

Panasonic LX2 (both shots). Building converted to B&W in Photoshop.
Fan shot solarized in Photoshop.
No film shots because no one in town will develop 110 anymore.

Thanks to everyone for some fine submissions. I hate having to "judge" photos and pick-n-choose one over another, but that's part and parcel of having participated in the thread....so here goes:

THIRD: J. Scott

SECOND: Bart

FIRST: ajuett

I like the way the boat out in the water serves as a vanishing/converging point for both the old pilings and the forested hill in the background. A nice photo with very few elements, but a lot to look at.

Heartfelt gratitude to all who participated and congratulations to those who placed. It is now up to Ajuett to determine a theme for the next contest and run it.
