what kind of film for an IQZoom 900?

I just bought a used IQZoom900 for my daughter who is away at college. The manual says that unless I use DX film, the camera will set any film I use to ISO 100, regardless of the speed of the film.

Being completely ignorant about these things, if this is true, isn't this is big disadvantage? Or are there multi-purpose films that will work with this camera? I know we used to use ISO 400 because it would take good photos in most situations.

Looking forward to any and all advice so I can hopefully ship this off to my daughter.

No worries. Any roll of 35mm film you purchase in a retail store will be DX-coded.
Yes, 400 speed film seems to work best with most point & shoot cameras.
Kodak UltraMax 400 is my favorite inexpensive color negative film (for prints).

i don't think there is any common film that isn't DX coded so you needn't worry
