Point & Shoot Contest #25 - "Signs of religion"

Well, here we go with P&S contest #25.

Rules of entry

1. Remember to have FUN!
2. Any camera other than a SLR/DSLR, Range finder, MF or LF is eligible.
3. Entries will end on Monday November 30th 18 00 GMT.
4. Maximum image dimensions are 800 X 800 pixels.
5. List camera BRAND, MODEL with entry for all to see.
6. The theme is "Signs of religion"
7. Maximum of 3 photos per photographer.
8. Post processing is fine.
9. Winner will set up and judge next contest.

About the theme:
Again, I think this could be quite interesting seeing how many different nationalities we've got on the forum.
I know we sometimes would like to think we are all the same but in fact, we all have our own cultures. And that's just great. We should try to keep an open mind and embrace our differences.
In most cultures, religion is an integrate part of it, rooted very deeply in history. So, show me the signs of religion you encounter in your part of the world - or in a part of the world you visited.
Could be a shrine, a mosque, a temple, a church, a statue, a procession, ... And of course, people practicing their religion is a bonus, I would think.

Please, do mention where your pictures are from!

A note about the rules: we have had some discussions about the cameras to use. Up till now, the rules stated that anything but a SLR or DSLR was allowed. This strikes me and others as strange in a contest named "Point & Shoot contest". So, there was a difference between the spirit and the letter of the rules.
I did make a change, trying to bring clarity to this matter. We don't want a M9 or later on a 645D to enter the P&S contest, now do we.

Good luck to all and do have fun.

Slow start, it would seem...

Perhaps I can post some to 'break the ice'. Outside of the "competition", of course!

France, Corrèze.

Belgium, Sint-Lieven.

Belgium, Nevele.

I do hope we get a good number of participants!

People,

Do I need to get worried?

About halfway into the 'contest' and no participants in sight.

I hope i didn't make the subject to difficult?

Still have loads of time, Bart. I haven't seen anything that strikes me as contest
worthy, yet. I could post a pic of a church, but people would start to nod off in
the back row. lol

Here is a double entendre if you will. I originally thought about this photo for the competition with a twist...the Photo is of the Acropolis of Athens which was the "sacred rock" of ancient Greek Gods worship. The buildings on top (not visible from this angle) were the spiritual offerings (temples) to the Gods, therefore making this a "sign of religion", then I noticed...ion the photo was an actual sign pointing to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre here in Athens...so, we have a choice!

oops, another...

Taken with my old Canon SD800 I believe...either that or my even older Olympus C310.

This is an old Greek Orthodox Church in Santorini.

I'm not sure what you meant about posting a forum name.

Oops, I meant to remove the part about the forum name as well and I just did so.
It referred to your user name on the forum.
That shouldn't be a problem since you can hardly post without showing your user name.
Perhaps it was different when this forum got started.
But then I saw the first P&S Contest dates to December 21st, 2007 and I was already on the forum then. Although a lot has changed, the user name was certainly visible to the left of the post, even when I joined.
My, do I feel old, talking about the times long gone

Anyways. Thanks for your entry, Dragonfly!
