Thanks for the welcome barondla and skid2964!

Glad you like the photos, skid. Yeah, the S3/S5 IS are great cameras (well, from what I understand, the S3 and S5 are quite similar). Such a handy little camera. Yeah, I'm definitely not gonna get rid of it when I eventually get the K-x.

Winners

The 2nd anniversary, contest #26 contains fabulous images of many subjects. Everyone entered extremely high quality work! It was very difficult to judge. Enjoyed every photo.

The WINNERS are:

3rd place: skid2964 for the top smiley face kite photo. Love the expression of the face as it watches the people dangling below. Funny and kind of chilling at the same time.

2nd place: mamba909 for the plant against black background. Lighting is perfect and the composition really works. The ultra simplicity of the shot works well. Very graphic image.

1st place: Kyteflyer Pasha Bulker. The fog around the ship is incredible. It is set off by the lone flying bird in the right corner. Masterful.

Congratulations to all the winners.

Thanks to everyone for entering and making the contest a success. Two years ago, when the contest began, some said it would never last. They felt it was in the wrong location, and shouldn't allow non Pentax cameras. Others thought it bad for a one person to judge the contest. Glad it has worked out so well. Thanks to Adam and Pentax Forums for allowing us to prove compact cameras aren't a limitation.

thanks
barondla

Kyteflyer, take the contest into the new year.

Congrats to the winners! When I saw the ship in the mist with the bird, that was
my choice for 1st place, too, simply a fabulous shot where everything came together at the right time and you caught it!

Congrats to the judge, also, for making this a no-theme, no-subject, anything
goes, contest. Makes it a lot more fun and you get to see a great mix of shots.

I enjoyed seeing the entries very much, thanks.

Thanks to all and congrats to the others as well, all the entries were great.

@ barondla: "masterful" I wish! It was just dumb luck, but I loved what it produced.
@ chubasco: indeed, a combination of elements which just happened to be: right place, right time, right camera.

This was the shot that made me realise I *could* do photography, and what took me into DSLR territory. Never produced anything like this since

Now: a need to consider the next competition, and what it might entail...

Congrats to Kyteflyer and mamba909. I knew when I saw that ship through the fog, it was a winner, My 2nd favorite was mamba's flower shot also. I agree with both selections 100%.

Humble thanks for 3rd, it's my first placement with my trusty W60. The S3 has been taking the glory before now.

Thanks for the honor, barondla, and congrats to the other two placers! I'm quite surprised at my placement, actually, considering the competition.

My favorite is jays0n's, even though it's not eligible. Quite a feat you pulled off there! I also love jheu02's sandal on the beach. The b&w treatment serves the photo well.

Thanks, barondla, for successfully running the p&s contest for 2 years! I just got my K-x, so who knows if I'll enter another one of these contests..... Yeah, I probably will. =)

Congratulations to Kyteflyer, mamba909 and skid2964.
Great entries!

The ship was one of my favorites as well. Wonderful atmosphere.

Looking forward to your contest, Kyteflyer.

PS I just found it. Nice subject.

Congratulations, Kyteflyer, on a great shot. One of the better ones I have seen of the Pasha Bulker.

+The Pasha Bulka ran aground on our local beach her in Newcastle during a very severe storm. It created a lot of interest, and millions of great photos.

Well done all entrants, some really great shots there.
