So, Who's Getting the W90?

So, anybody? I know I am. The W60 and W80 were both average performers, with the W60 regarded with better image quality. This new W90 seems to be a completely new body design. The LED's are just one of the things I look forward to testing. I am going to preorder this baby and give it a full rundown.

I have the W20, has done extremely well for 4 years, might as well try the W90.

I'm interested, but I never buy anything when it's first released unless it's discounted. That and I like to see what kind of reviews it gets.

I do like the fact that you can take it underwater down to 20ft without a case. But as an avid scuba diver, i'm especially interested in the underwater housing that will take it down to 60 meters (196ft)!

I'm interested but going to wait to see the first wave of reviews to see what people think. The S90 looks pretty interesting too!

I think I remember playing with a Pentax W20 or W30 a few years ago and it had very slow response time.

i haven't tried any of the newer ones but these look like really neat cameras! Being able to dunk it, drop it, freeze it... is a pretty awesome feature.

Well, not quite...

W90 looks good BUT... it's niche for me is underwater. My old 7mpx Oly 770-SW doesn't have all the latest electronics, but it'll survive deeper (33 ft vs 20) and is more shock resistant. And it's paid for. And my wife loves it. And if I blow $330+ on yet another P&S, I'll be eating fishheads for the foreseeable future. So I'll pass...

Looking forward to your thoughts on it.
I need one of those at some point, missed it when visiting nice snorkeling areas

I just got the W80 last month and at the price of $150, I wouldn't trade it for the W90 which just looks like it had a physical makeover and 3 LED lights.
If the W80 eats through its batteries, I would say that if they haven't fixed that on the W90 then with the additional LEDs it's would gobble it up!
I bought a higher ampherage rating battery on the W80 which makes the battery work longer.

I almost bought one of these prior to my purchase of the W80 but with the deal that I got with the W80 and the HD video, I went with the W80.
Although not crushproof but it had a higher megapixel count and 5X optical zoom as against the 770SW 3X zoom.
Has an intervalometer too!
I'm happy..

A must for me! setting the camera up on a tripod to take interval shots and knowing it can handle weather and temperature extremes is the way to go.

I am interested in the W90.
Just got the W80 at work, to be our toss around. So far it is a pretty impressive, tough little cookie, even with its limitations.

Cheers, Mike.

I'm not getting it, but only because the wife has a w80 already. Otherwise I really might. The w80 is much better than what most people have said (without having used it?). As long as we don't damage it by trusting it TOO far, we'll keep it.

Co-worker got one, saw it yesterday. Took a wide-angle self-portrait in available light. Bumping the lens to telephoto and it popped the flash because the aperture changed. I had the "Frame" mode put an "aluminum port-hole" frame around the image. Looked OK. No lens cover, small buttons. That's it from here...

W90 same sensor as W80 - crappy image quality

W90 has the same sensor as W80, which is crap - 12MP sensor this small is just too noisy.
IMHO the last decent Pentax W was W20. From then on, the megapixel race killed the model line, and here we are with W80/W90 with 12MP sensors and noise at ISO64.

I want my 5MP camera back !!!!
